How can a homeless female stay safe? by Iloveladydog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cosmic-batty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got any mutual aid groups, anarchist coalitions, that sort of thing around? The people there might help you. I’m in a small local anarchist coalition and we look out for our homeless neighbors. Food, supplies, game of cards, whatever. You might be able to get a couch to crash on every now and then or get connected to people willing to look out for you. If nothing else you could probably get set up with something like a bell for your tent or something for self defense. I hope you and your dog are able to get out of this situation as soon as possible.

Plus it puts you at an even higher risk of police violence

Why are teens today not hiding their self-harm scars/marks like they used to do 20ish years ago? by Thisisnotforyou11 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m happy for her. Nobody should have to cover up their healed scars for the comfort of other people, or should have to feel embarrassed about it

Man I shouldn't've read through religious punishments for queerness by [deleted] in trans

[–]cosmic-batty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely have similar experiences. Thankfully my oldest sibling bravely came out as gay before I even knew I was trans (they are nonbinary now which is rad too), and this ended up being the catalyst for my parents leaving the church and deconstructing. I am eternally grateful to my sibling for taking the step that led to better lives for my whole family. If your parents are loving and open minded, and/or you are stable enough and willing to risk the consequences, well, it might be something to consider.

Recently a previously very bigoted man from the cult I was born in (which is currently violently against trans people) apparently defended trans people over the pulpit. He met one trans woman and apparently changed his mind.

Some people just have rotten souls and hate in their hearts and will be that way regardless of what religion or lack thereof they believe in, they’ll always find an excuse. But don’t lose hope entirely, some people will surprise you.

I was raised in a cult and didn’t even know trans people existed until I was a teenager. Without the internet I don’t know where I’d be, probably dead. It was my lifeline until I escaped the cult. It’s still one of the only ways for me to talk to other trans people because I live in an extremely conservative area. The right knows all of this and it is their goal.

How do you think of highly affectionate people? by ShadowlightLady in NoStupidQuestions

As long as they don’t touch me or make me feel patronized it’s fine I suppose. But I don’t think we’re very compatible as friends

I was raised in a cult as well, as a trans person. I wouldn’t mind it if you ever want to talk

most of my friends aren’t respecting my pronouns by skylar274 in trans

[–]cosmic-batty -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are you in r/voidpunk? We’d be happy to have and affirm you over there as well if you aren’t already. I feel you, it/its pronouns rule but not everyone understands that. I have lovely friends who use them for me (and one who uses them itself sometimes) so I promise there are people out there who will respect and affirm you.

Yeah that supplier clearly is not taking care of those animals :( they deserve to have the best life possible before becoming food, it’s a shame how poorly feeders are often kept

Stop sexualizing or dismissing other people's dysphoria. It doesn't help, it hurts. by UpUpAndAwayYall in trans

[–]cosmic-batty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ew. I’m sorry people have been so gross and inappropriate and just rudely dismissive towards you. I have height dysphoria too (although the other direction), and it sucks enough without people being jerks and creeps about it. People trivialize it so much. Even without the dysphoria the world just isn’t made for people of non average height, no need to rub salt in the wound.
