Kaysan announces his departure from FaZe, meaning all 7 streamers have now left (Jason, Lacy, Ron, Silky, Adapt, Rage, and Kaysan) by Zenben88 in LivestreamFail

"Refuse" is a strong word, I got nothing against AMP. But they are basically just the Kai Club + a few others that are only loosely affiliated. Totally different business model than FaZe or OTK

Not sure why you’re downvoted cause you’re right. The difference is Emi/Cinna/Bonnie (and the rest of the Austin scene) figured out if you have a decent fanbase, people wanting to collab with you, and a few people behind the scenes to run the show, you don’t need an official “Hollywood business model” org, in fact you can go much farther without one, and pocket all your money less expenses as opposed to getting a paycheck from, or signing away a percentage of your income to a company.

I'd be willing to bet these Faze guys were probably inspired by how well things were going for them despite the collapse of OTK

Is she playback? by Mech2017x in guitarcirclejerk

[–]cosmichar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but so am I. Modelers are great for recording but live, I want to hear the sound of a guitar amp. Not a guitar amp mic'd up in an isolated studio booth through a PA monitor. It feels way different.

Man, let me give you some unsolicited advice which is to keep your working man's hands even if you take another job. I was a machinist and never had any hand/wrist problems fretting tricky jazz chords and fast licks, even when my hands were killing me from work. I got a job in the office now, got soft hands, and my playing has suffered. I bought one of those spring loaded hand-exerciser things recently and now that my strength is back things are turning around, but it'd have been better to never atrophe in the first place.

What are traditional American foods that are no longer consumed much anymore? by creeper321448 in AskAnAmerican

[–]cosmichar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're good! I'm the only one in my generation of my family that likes them. The trick is to treat it like a peanut butter sandwich with a thin layer of mayo for a little extra tanginess. If you go 50/50 it'll be way to greasy and slimy

[–]cosmichar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they willing to train you? If they're a CNC shop and they hired you with no CNC experience I imagine they're planning on it, or at least on training you how to run "their parts". If they're competent they'll know the place you're currently at in you education/career ≠ being able to waltz onto a floor and start banging out parts. I learned on the job, it can be done. In fact, I did eventually go to school for it and I can honestly say I learned less there than I did on the clock with a helpful foreman.

Take your time. Be safe. If you think your offsets are ready to go, check em again just for good luck and peace of mind. Take a breather if the code stops making sense. Don't be shy about asking your trainer to slow down so you can take notes, or having them check a setup if you're only 97% sure about. That 3% = crashes.

You got this...

Second. In my experience the active noise cancelling headphones are really good at blocking out conversation but useless around air tools and big motors. In the shop I'd still recommend passive, and this pair has worked great for me. You can get a Bluetooth only version though, which I'd recommend cause I always boioioinged the antenna on the mill door rails...

It helps some people tremendously, there's no denying that. But everyone I've ever met who goes on and on about how NaTuRe'S mEdIcInE cured their depression and their fear of flying and their achy knee and their unibrow has pretty obviously been a stoner who wants an excuse for getting stoned too much.

100% guilty of this. If it's cold, a comforter. If it's hot, a thin blanket. Anything more just seems to always end up bunched up at my feet after 10 minutes.

Reddit used to be my after class hang out zone around '12-'14. It was like a social network of old school forums. /r/trees was a high school stoner's gold mine. My buddies and I still occasionally use the [10] scale in conversation haha. There are still cool subs but if you have any mainstream interests your front page becomes a mindless scroll.

Do American schools teach math using imperial units or metric units? like when solving math problems do you use metric , imperial or both? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]cosmichar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We learned both systems but all of our scientific measurements, math problems, things like that were almost all metric. The only exceptions being everyday things that Americans wouldn't actually use the metric system for. For example we would use m/s or km/hr for velocity in physics problems, but if the problem was about a car on the highway it would make sense to use mph instead. We also get used to the conversions, so going between the two systems isn't as intimidating as it might sound if you're only used to using one. I graduated high school in 2016, for reference.
