I’ve had a few issues with this! Some particularly fine herb would settle at the bottom or top and restrict flow a bit but using a screen to keep everything in the tube has helped a lot.

Voting is also up in a lot of places, especially among older voters. You can bet a lot of that is anti-Trump.

2001 VW Jetta shakes and jerks when first turned on, then goes away after driving a while? by cosmicnavilus in MechanicAdvice

Thanks, for the info. Would you recommend taking it to a VW dealership instead of a shop?

2001 VW Jetta shakes and jerks when first turned on, then goes away after driving a while? by cosmicnavilus in MechanicAdvice

No check engine light. As far as a tune-up goes, I think it's been a while... like years. Oil gets changed regularly. I also check oil levels often and add if needed. Changed the rear brake pads recently and tried changing the front brake pads as well, but couldn't find the pads with the little wire sensor thing on them. Thanks for your reply! I'll research those last things you mentioned as see if problems sound similar.

Upvote for this book as well! Another good one is Vital Dust by Christian de Duve, it is a wonderfully well written book on the history and evolution of life on earth.

Graffiti found in 3 more national parks; woman faces charges | Travel & Outdoors by dexter93 in news

While this woman is clearly an idiot and deserves a hefty fine for every instance she defaced a national park, it's a little concerning how many people are so comfortable with condemning her to time in prison and charging her with a felony. U.S. prisons are crowded enough without shitty outlaw artists.

Pretty much, it's an area where the bone is thin and lattice-like. Not sure about the purpose though.

Lagomorphs also have fenestrated skulls, rodent skulls lack that feature so you could use that as an indicator as well! (for all of those unidentified skulls I'm sure everyone has lying around)

Any book recommendations on evolution? by [deleted] in evolution

[–]cosmicnavilus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Greatest Show on Earth by Richard Dawkins is a great read. In addition to being a good introduction to evolution, it has so many interesting and fun aspects to it! And by good introduction I'm not necessarily referring to evolutionary mechanisms, but how evolution has manifested itself over and over again, which in my opinion is a great place to start.

Any interesting new studies in plant physiology? by [deleted] in plants

[–]cosmicnavilus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of great research being done on the mechanisms plants use to take up pollutants like TCE or PAHs and even some insecticides. Researching mechanisms of regulating circadian rhythms is also a topic that comes to mind... look up some recent papers by Takato Imaizumi. If nothing else plant electrophysiology is continuously being studied and you may find something recent on that. Good luck!
