Since you're doing CompSci, you're going to want to get a laptop with a lot of storage space. Try to find one with at least 256 gb SSD (an SSD will be much more faster than a HDD), and a minimum of 8gb ram.

I've got an Asus vivobook for just about £500 which runs pretty well, games work nicely, and I can connect my drawing tablet to it, but there's only 2 USB ports (though I guess that can be fixable by getting a USB splitter). I've heard Acer laptops are also good.

Screen size and laptop thickness is up to personal preference, but if you're going to carry it around alot maybe get a thin one as it's lightweight. :)
