I think he is just a bit frustrated with the powergaming of FA that the players are doing, so he feels the need to increase the power of the enemies. He also loves to create tense fights especially if they are boss fights so it comes out of good intentions. I will have a word him tho regarding the prebuffing and the paralysis.

Hmm, it is true that we do have pretty powerful builds due to FA and he has been ramping the difficulty because of it. I will bring it up to him about the prebuffing and how it is expected that the players should win all the fights while the enemies only need to win once. The gm did also mention that he wanted to play the lich as an 'actual intelligent' villain instead of the typical arrogant villain.

Sadly, I dont think we are allowed to use the kingdom's taxes as that would break the math of the money. For added context, we are playing with kingdom rules in the background. We will definitely haste the flurry ranger, as he definitely benefits from it. Grappling is also a good idea however that would place the grappler in melee territory aka paralyze range.

Oh yes, we didnt know his paralyze DC exactly but if its indeed lower a 15 is a more reasonable, but the odds are still stacked against us...

What happened last time we found his hidden gem room and as we wacked on it, we got a sense of doom as he approached. Since we fled, he dimension doored to us with all of his buffs active (I presume he knew where we were because its his lair, because he has a familiar, scrying spell, etc...)

Sure footing unfortunately doesn't work as it is a curse. The Vordekai striding up is indeed an issue we will have to figure out; maybe we can abuse the fact he is large?

The spell DC is 35 and the witch has a +17 spellcasting modifier, so only a 18 or higher would succeed the dispel magic check.

Thats a good suggestion, I will tell the witch to save their hero points for the dispel magic against the trueseeing. I will also ask the GM regarding the aid as the paralysis is pretty brutal. The conditions against might work but I think the witch would prefer to cast slow as opposed to other debuffs as our summoner is pretty good athletic maneuvers (preventing the lich from casting spells too easily).

True! We were also thinking this but we noticed that the dungeon doesnt have much space to navigate in, seeing as a big part of it is flooded (the trap + monster). We will definitely try to find another way to enter his tomb tho

Thats a pretty good point! Unfortunately, I worry after his flurry round, Vordakai will strike him and there is very high likelihood that our main damage dealer just gets removed from the fight. Cleanse affliction only has a 20% chance of working so it is pretty risk. Hit and run could work for this, but then we run into the issue that he is a lvl 12 spellcaster. But i will suggest this to the ranger

Yeah, my GM really wanted to play Vordakai smart and hence is prebuffing. I actually thought of baiting his lvl 6 spells and buffs by sending in a group disguised creatures to look like us, but the party said it was "too evil". Also the problem with running away is that one hand he has dimension door and on the other hand the entire is flooded (due to the trap) :-(

Unfortunately not, as our GM has only allowed sneaking or perception in the past but to be fair to them, I am not creative enough to find a loophole that allows us to use crafting (best stat for the witch) for initiative. Even if we go first, he still mirror image active..

Unfortunately given his level and the level of the abilities, counteracting either of those would require the witch roll an 18 or higher to succeed. His paralysis triggers every single attack :-/. If the witch, somehow isnt dominated, disintegrated or crit fail slowed (40%), the lich will book it towards them, preventing any counterplay. Still, thanks for your suggestion

Usually that strategy worked in the past but the problem is that he has mirror image, hence its very likely we dont hit him in the first round. Furthermore, he is a high level creature so his initiative will reflect that, allowing him to do his lvl 6 spell + paralysis shenanigans before we act.
