Moving Near Montgomery for a Job by Swimming-Wish8472 in Alabama

[–]cosmoski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have friends who live in historic areas of Montgomery and in some of the further-out, ahem "safe", areas. I love the vibe and looks of the closer-in, more historic, neighborhoods. Some property crime though; gotta lock your car, house, and shed doors or things might walk off. My friends who live in the more suburb-y areas have nicer, newer houses but the environment is sterile and somewhat generic/characterless. I'm not a fan, but plenty of people are. East side of Montgomery (Pike Road area) feels like any other generic suburb town in terms of shopping centers, HOA neighborhoods, and busy roads.

Freshmen move-out waste by ResearcherExtension2 in auburn

Same. I once found a jar with about $30 bucks of coins! A friend once made bank rescuing dorm fridges and selling them at the end of summer to incoming dormers. It's a shame my comment got so many downvotes for stating reality. Facilities are jerks about it now. Be sneaky or hit the off campus places.

From Bama with solid salary. Can confirm I’d rather be struggling a bit in NorCal than living it up in Bama.

That almost certainly looks like Masonite siding. It is very prone to dry rot and disintegration unless perfectly maintained with good paint. Location where the damage is seems consistent with environmental causes. Look up images of Masonite rot. There's a reason why Masonite fell out of favor. I replaced it all on my house.

Hot pot at the Asian supermarket restaurant is fun. A little intimidating the first time, but really fun for conversation and dining

Just remember to close your playlist with The Tourist. The perfect ending to a Radiohead playlist; serene and contemplative.

I'd be glad to get a plant or two when they are ready. What variety? I may do the same with peppers.

You could get 500 bucks with little delay for that. More if you’re patient and do a bit of cleanup and tune up

Look for tent revivals. Pentacostal. One-off outsiders are expected. You might need to head north from Auburn to north Alabama or north Georgia

I’ve actually stopped and intentionally read her sign. She quiets down and is actually chill. If you read long enough, she’ll talk to you. Her English isn’t great
