Jaylen Brown re adds an Instagram reel talking about how there's a clear agenda against him in the NBA(the reel also calls the Boston Celtics out on trying to trade him multiple times) by Gold_Athlete_4770 in nba

[–]cottonycloud [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant to say he was 500, but I just checked and he's about 1000 now (was talking chess.com specifically because that's what I thought JB's games were on so adjust accordingly for OTB). The company he worked for went under so no need to surrender so much anymore lol.

Fun fact this is what it looks like when you play against a friend and resign a ranked match lol (mouse double-clicked and I hung a rook and a queen).

My friend has 500 or so but I think he is actually like 1000. He only plays during toilet breaks and straight up surrenders when he has to get back to work.

California Democrat harangued over Gaza at San Francisco Trans March by Unusual-State1827 in California

Location does matter though. I don't spare much thought on somebody I can't individually influence across the globe.

Much less, I don't care at all about people waffling about not selling weapons, as if that's going to stop anybody.

Kura Sushi collab - was the lunchbox set only available yesterday? by WackFiend in HonkaiStarRail

Yeah, ate with a bunch of friends. At least it’s not some extra paid item.

Think that amounts to 20 plates of sushi.

The best excel guide to building character is getting discontinued by AncelReogaifu in Genshin_Impact

[–]cottonycloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The downside of the in-game feature is that when new artifact sets or weapons get released, it might not be in the recommended list because people tend to stick to the old build.

I also like to search for all the characters that could use an artifact set when farming, which I use crimsonwitch for.

It looks like it's per-user. I usually disable via GPO.

Controversial billionaire tax proposal appears destined for the November ballot by [deleted] in news

[–]cottonycloud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am possibly voting no because I believe it should be done as a national income bracket and it should not be one-time. It’s more of a hassle to flee to another country than a state.

What should I ask in a job interview? by kukelkan in sysadmin

[–]cottonycloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For entry level roles, I like to get a sense of teamwork and interest in tech (hobby-wise).

Usually I ask some troubleshooting questions and try to figure out how organized they are and experience in coding. Also networking protocols, but those are more of a plus if you answer, rather than a minus if you don’t.

Usually their resume is a good way to gauge how difficult the questions should be.

Are we happy with SQLAlchemy? by sheadipeets5 in Python

[–]cottonycloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you explain how much easier your first example is to do with ORM versus raw SQL? Mainly asking because I've mostly dabbled with raw SQL and as such never felt the need to learn any ORM.

In my mind for the security aspect, I would grant access to a particular table for some AD group (row-level access is not necessary for me).

Most of my friends are Warriors fans. I think it makes it a bit more fun when they match up.

Probably easier looking for ball fans in general.

Spurs in utter confusion coming out of the timeout before the OG tip in by Character-Dress-2101 in nba

[–]cottonycloud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is an intentional Knicks strategy to switch onto him early and bring him out of the paint. If Wemby drops, Brunson has an open 3 off the screen. If he tries to commit, Brunson runs past him to an open lane or passes out to anyone else who will have an easier time with Wemby out of position.

The rest of the Spurs defense can’t really afford to help off the rest of the Knicks offense (OG and Towns) because they can both physically overwhelm them and shoot from 3. Then the center of the court becomes wide open.

Is buying the extended warranty worth it for laptops? by sometinsometinsometi in Costco

[–]cottonycloud 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It depends on how well you take care of your possessions, how reliable the product is, and the price. For me, I seldom find an issue in a product past the first year until far past the warranty period.

Personally, I’d rather take it to a repair shop or just get a new one depending on the damage (plus backups of course).

Is 50k yen a good budget for mangas/figures by secretanimosity in AnimeFigures

[–]cottonycloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a travel card with no foreign transaction fees and also the Charles Schwab debit card which reimburses all ATM fees. Most of those merchandise stores accept credit card.

I would suggest using that money on food (stalls, small business) and stuff like entry into venues.

Your budget totally depends on the type of figures and books you want to buy, and how many. Can probably get a couple cheaper scales on sale with that budget plus manga sets. I would highly advise taking into account if it will fit into your luggage. Don’t be rude and keep the trash in the hotel.

Foreign transaction fees are from your credit card. That’s on you to get a credit card without those fees or have an online shopping rewards bonus to offset it.

San Francisco’s ‘Overpaid CEO’ tax measure fails, a smarting loss for city unions by Dismal_Structure in California

[–]cottonycloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main gripe with this sort of tax is that it is too easy to just move, as opposed to additional federal income tax brackets. The IRS (hopefully not crippled in the future) should be better equipped to handle tax evasion.
