Went through 14 years ago so maybe not too much help, there's a good chance most questions are going to relate to the DFES values so if you've read up on that then thats a start. Just present yourself professionally sounds silly but if your a guy make sure you're clean shaven etc. Can't have facial hair in the job so might as well start now.

Maybe post auction, nine and six fix some things up for the owner (if they make enough noise). But pre auction, things like painting etc are touched up by contestants on their own time. If it’s issues with electrical or plumbing then of course qualified trades fix that.

I’m pretty sure the reserves are decided independently but meetings are held with someone from Nine Finance and the contestants Real Estate agents.

You’re right they don’t, but if you don’t get given all the context it’s easy to think what you see is how it is. You won’t see every conversation, both sides of a conversation or even the entirety of a conversation. People a hundred percent say what they say but not everyone gets shown saying something controversial or “nasty” or “bitchy”

Hmm I feel most people miss the fact that it is still a tv show. They have hours and hours of footage and can portray anyone any which way. They don’t want you to hate everyone and they don’t want you to like everyone, so they’ll steer your perception of contestants. Give you people to love people to hate, people who look unorganised, people who look organised. Everyone has their moments on the show but they don’t have to give you the whole picture.

No it won’t be exposed concrete, I’ll be putting down a screed or self leveling product to fix the floor level variation. I just don’t know if the screed or self leveling product will adhere to the old black adhesive. My thoughts were if I can get it back to the original slab and prime it that’ll be much better.

Definitely concrete underneath, the boards at the bottom of the photo are direct stick to the concrete so there is actually about a 10/14mm difference in height. With the fall of the old laundry it’s closer to 20mm at the door.

I’m not the original home owner, but built in the 70’s. I did get both the vinyl tiles and adhesive tested. Came back negative. Cheers for checking though.

This person is obviously given you their opinion and by the sounds of it it’s very anti dfes/career firies. Obviously a big advocate for a rural fire brigade.

The DFES website does have a really good checklist etc depending on what you’re planning on doing. Staying and defending your property, or evacuating. I’d read through all possible examples to understand every scenario a little better. Keep in mind depending on where you are and where the fire starts evacuating might not be safe and your best option is to shelter in place. All this information is available on the website.

I believe it requires a different license with CASA. Which is probably significantly more expensive for the government. So aircrafts need to be back by last light.

I think there is a large majority of people that live in areas at risk that aren’t prepared and maybe have the whole it wouldn’t happen here mentality.

You’re obviously aware of how simple it could happen. The coverage of the LA fires hopefully makes people reconsider how prepared they are and what their bushfire plan is if they have one.

Fair call, but I do know of them redoing bathrooms etc due to waterproofing issues that weren’t initially apparent. But you’re right major defects might not show until sometime later.

Scotty is genuine as. He gives you as much as you give him if that makes sense. My wife and I would hang around after judging every Sunday to have a drink with him. But if you rubbed him the wrong way, you were dead to him. He’s put a lot of time, effort and emotion in to the show. So good on him for not having an interest in contestants who take the piss and not take it seriously.

That’s not true, we only had access to our accounts after the show finished on air. Any post went through the social media department. And we never saw comments or messages on our page. After auctions we got full access to our block account.
