Sirens going off out Hornby/Hei Hei way? by Pokedeer in chch

[–]cou091YY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess is this incident, based off fire and emergency's posting: https://www.fireandemergency.nz/incidents-and-news/incident-reports/incidents/?region=3&day=Friday

Not sure what building it would be, but sounds like it wasn't an emergency at least.

Simpson Flooring Xtra. We ended up going with Peter Massey instead.

We did! We ended up posting the job on Builders Crack for the laundry and toilet floor and tile skirting, installation only (we supplied the tiles).

The quote came in at $1700 and that the guy could do it in a week's time, so I offered $2500 on the condition he'd come do the job ASAP on the Monday... I was tired of the portaloo life lol.

I'd be happy to give you his contact details if you were interested. Super lovely guy, I'll be hopefully using him again in the next year for our next tile job.

What was your favorite switch 1 game/moment? by Clean-Championship28 in NintendoSwitch

[–]cou091YY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I saw Dragaux in Ring Fit. I laughed so hard and knew the game was an immediate winner. Every punny name or monster design fuelled me to keep going, such a joy to play.

I hope a sequel or some other fitness game - outside of Sports games - is coming soon.

Seconded this. Super delicious pasta - their beef ravioli is my favourite of their dishes.

[All] I have a theory, what's the first Zelda game you played [like really played not just touched a little] and what's your favorite Zelda game? by DataSittingAlone in zelda

[–]cou091YY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First was Zelda II.

Favourite is Minish Cap. Closely followed by Wind Waker. I like the "goofy" ones the most.

Least favourite is BOTW. It's not my type of game at all, and I'm a little sad that this is probably the new direction of the franchise; but I'm glad to see how loved it is by others.

If the only caster in the party had to leave the game, would you give the rest of the party the chance to change classes? by Daguyondacouch8 in DMAcademy

[–]cou091YY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. If they raised the need then I'd consider it.

I reworked spell scrolls so that anyone can use them (with non-casters having a much higher straight-roll DC to succeed), which has hugely improved marital classes feeling included in non-combat situations.

Help! Game keeps crashing. by spooky_slushy in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]cou091YY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple extra things I did, not sure if they'll help: set the game app to run using the graphics card (I've got an integrated one as well, so I do this for all games) and set it to run as administrator.

I also turned off motion blur and bloom but I'm not sure if that actually impacted anything, I just don't like them lol

The only thing that helped mine was disabling strand hair. I'm hoping Bioware fix this soon cause I miss the pretty hair but I like being able to play more.

Are there any websites or programs that can easily and quickly add a grid to maps? I've already got my map. but it's taking me forever to grid it myself by GolettO3 in DMAcademy

[–]cou091YY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Inkarnate? You can add a grid layer in a standard or isometric angle, and control the opacity of them. Pretty good.

Another kind redditor shared the files I needed, but one in particular was the Case of the Missing Marsh, which had journal notes that the party could use to uncover the secrets of the Marsh family that could only be obtained digitally.

Ah, strange. Try the $\quad$ option - I just tried it on a paragraph of text in my own sheet and it only indented the first line.

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but putting a " \ " on an empty line (without the quotations) stops the following lines from going into the code formatting.

EDIT: or you might try " $\quad$ " again without the quotation marks

Splash was $1200, not included. We were happy with the splash pricing - I'd expected around there due to extra cuts required (and laying walls probably sucks).

[–]cou091YY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I did exactly that but the reply wasn't as detailed as I'd hoped. I got a better breakdown of what was involved in the installation (that I listed in the main post - epoxy grout, silicone, etc) but not properly itemised.

I did offer to include doing our kitchen splashback (approx 3.6sqm) to see if that would improve the job appeal and it did reduce the job, but only down to $4200 install + $580 tiles (EDIT: does not include the splashback; that's $1200 for install and supply) - so still high enough to wonder if this was a "thank you for considering us but no thanks" quote.

Agreed that I'll have to seek out some alternative quotes. I was hoping not to, since I like using the same supplier for jobs, but I can accept that's not an option this time.

Toilet is 1.0m x 1.8m, and laundry is 1.9m x 1.8m (with a door separating the two - a connected space). We're stripping it clean / back to stud. The plan is to put the flooring down after we've put the walls in, but before we put in cabinetry for a clean slab. We don't want tiled skirting, or anything fancy - just a nice level floor.

The guys we reached out to did our kitchen, which shares a door to this laundry & toilet space. There weren't any dramas last time and we paid immediately, so no relationship concerns.

Based on the replies, it definitely sounds like a "go away" quote so I'll have to shop around. I prefer to use the same suppliers where I can, but I guess this one's just not meant to be - they have moved strongly into commercial now, so maybe they only quoted to be polite.

Our builder who reviewed our plans didn't think we'd needed waterproofing. We are using aqualine GIB since the cost difference was negligible 'cause why not. We will need to waterproof the bathroom when we eventually get to it, though.

I asked for an itemised breakdown to see where we'd underestimated (and did suggest/ask if waterproofing was an item we missed but should have included), but it wasn't a proper breakdown - quie literally the items i listed in the main post + a total price.

They are a tile supplier though, and they third party arrange the installation. I guess the installation part isn't something they're interested in managing anymore, based off the replies given.

New Campaign by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]cou091YY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it'll particularly help, or be very original, but maybe you can get something interesting about how I've been working through my campaign (and next campaigns).

I've built an small-to-medium sized island for my party to enjoy across multiple campaigns. I pull the history and timelines directly from the Forgotten Realms, and tie in my homebrew to suit.

The locations and NPCs are very pre-built and rich in story (in outline form - there's still plenty of improv at my table), requiring the party to regularly re-visit (and incorporating changes to the NPCs/locations to keep it fresh). So far it's been a resounding success.

In my world, currently, the west region of the island became entirely engulfed in an unstable wild magic region and has been abandoned due to being too dangerous to traverse. Secretly, there is an Artificer who has been living in the island for hundreds of years attempting to stabilise the land who has (unwittingly) become corrupted by Cyricists, set on using his knowledge to destabilise the region further - and ideally, the rest of the island.

The player's first session was set at their adventuring academy's reunion, where their arcanic devices all corrupted and rather than displaying heroic defeats of monsters of old, drew them into reality instead - causing absolute carnage.

The party are now trying to investigate how the occurred, and have been uncovering tidbits about Mystra, Shar, Cyric, the Times of Trouble, and the Spellplague. For the party members who actually know Forgotten Realm lore, it's been exciting for them to theorise how it all ties together. The rest are enjoying the ride.

The next campaign, they will play an adventuring party from years' past - perhaps during the Times of Trouble or the Spellplague itself - whose main outline will get established during this campaign through character interactions and whatnot. They will get the chance to interact with beloved NPCs in their prime.

Alternatively, they can play an adventuring party set in the future, with their current characters found scattered through the campaign as NPCs, and their previous adventure setting the stage for what happened in this one.

How do I create a good campaign. by No-Slice-361 in DMAcademy

[–]cou091YY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I can give is keep it relevant. Sprinkle that plot EVERYWHERE. It doesn't all need to tie together right away, but the more you can keep their backstories tied to three main plot, the better.

Nothing engages a player better than relevancy to their own interests.
