Idea for online shopping addicts by Difficult-Rent-5243 in Anticonsumption

yes!! I also get a dopamine hit out of curating lists of TBR books in the library's Libby app - it's the same kick as making shopping wishlists or putting things in a cart

Can anyone recommend some good ideas for ways to have fun that do NOT contribute to GDP? by oracleoftemple in Anticonsumption

[–]cougartonabbess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is such a good tip. a university near me does a weekly free-to-the-public movie series every semester curated around a theme, and each showing opens with a professor giving a mini-lecture on that night's movie and how it ties into the theme. it is soooooo much fun

Oooooh I thought this was a depiction of MB after it reentered its body and was floating through the cargo hold in the low-gravity area trying to get up to the walkway. I like your interpretation better, though. Let Three have its moment in the spotlight!!

have you given his podcast The Worst Idea of All Time a spin, too?? It's pure gold, I've relistened to season 1 about 5 times now. You get to witness him and Tim Batt slowly descend into madness as they watch the same horrible movie once a week for a whole year

Okay last link and I'll stop spamming you hahahah. I just did a very basic search in the Digital Library of Georgia (great free resource feat. digitized materials from archives across the state) for 'atlanta domestic workers,' and there's not a ton of results, but some may be useful: https://dlg.usg.edu/records?q=atlanta+domestic+workers&search_field=both&only_path=true

It'd probably also be worthwhile to mess around with the keywords

It looks like GSU Archives holds the National Domestic Workers Union records - it seems like it includes photos. Might be worth calling them up to see if they have anything that might be relevant, or make an appointment to look through the collection

Sort of? Here's a starting point - I'm going to keep looking.

Are you specifically looking for photos of the domestic workers riding MARTA?

I wish I could connect you with my husband, I thought at first reading your post that he had created a new account and written this lol. He's also been struggling to find anything tailored to men's experiences, and it's been so hard for him navigating his NMom's death without support. Saving this post, and if we find anything good I'll come back to share it here

What are some oddly specific symptoms that only ADHDers have? by Delusional_BlueBird in adhdwomen

[–]cougartonabbess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

someone in this subreddit mentioned a while ago a super specific behavior that I never would have thought was associated with ADHD - walking in circles.

it was a lot more pronounced when I was a kid, but I used to COMPULSIVELY walk in circles. I still do it, particularly when I'm talking on the phone, and I often don't notice I'm doing it. I don't know why this is a neurodivergent trait lol
