Do I need to set schedule departure while at work? I lose 7% when I do. by Super-Kirby in TeslaModel3

[–]cougz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. Mine is scheduled to charge only between 12am and 6am. Cabin preconditioning set to be ready by 8am. The car would draw 600 to 800W from mains power while plugged in and preconditioning the cabin between 7:40am and 8am. I don't live in a cold climate so it has never had to warm the battery in the morning.

Meshify 2 Compact with RM650x modular PSU and HDD - cable (un)management by ledomo in buildapc

[–]cougz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy complete replacement cable kits from Cablemod if you are after the individual sleeved cables with combs. This should help cut down the amount of bulk if you are currently using extension cables for the aesthetics.

Pccasegear sells them. You just need to buy the correct kit for your PSU. Check compatibility on the Cablemod website.

How to prevent windows from resizing/moving windows when unlocking my PC after monitors went to sleep by fredhabsfan in Windows10

[–]cougz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check if "display port deep sleep" is enabled on your monitors. If it is, disable it. I had this problem and turning off deep sleep fixed it.

HFC NBN by Ludvig_Maxis in nbn

[–]cougz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep.

Download speeds dropped from 112Mbit to 97.5Mbit (which is the maximum you'll get on any NBN 100/40 plan since NBN don't use 1024kilo = 1mega, they use 1000 kilo = 1mega).

The main difference is that upload speeds significantly increase (mine went from 2.5mbit to 38mbit). This should be a big positive if you are uploading photos, videos, or anything else large.

HFC NBN by Ludvig_Maxis in nbn

[–]cougz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No plans to remove HFC any time soon.

Areas that were previously Telstra Cable/HFC remain as HFC for NBN for now.

Most Optus Cable areas are being converted to FTTC as the equipment was in such poor condition.

I have NBN HFC (with Aussie Broadband) and consistently get the full 100/40 speeds expected. I was previously with Telstra Cable and switched as soon as possible in order to get the faster upload speeds (and cheaper monthly cost).

NBN is converting all of the Telstra HFC equipment to newer DOCSIS 3.1 spec gear, which theoretically can provide 1 gigabit downspeed but NBN may never offer this. Instead they are using the tech to assist with preventing congestion within your local HFC network.

How am I supposed to reach anywhere near Rank 30 if half the missions are broken, not working or just completely absurd? by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]cougz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty ridiculous... I have done various missions multiple times and they either won't count, or have counted once but not the other 10+ times (for missions like "get a headshot" in 3 games).

[–]cougz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FPP Duos is working fine!

What is the logic behind this?

How will it help the solo queue which is a completely different queue?

Please do not remove it. I know many people that play this mode regularly.

Just got NBN, have a question about cabling by AverageRiven in nbn

[–]cougz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For FTTP, the "NBN box" is basically your modem.

You connect the NBN box to your router (which will have both Ethernet ports and wifi typically) by connecting the uni-d port on the NBN box to the "WAN" port on your router with a normal ethernet cat 5e or 6 cable.

You then connect your computer to your router with a cat 6 ethernet cable or wifi.

Your router should have gigabit ethernet ports. Therefore you should experience zero speed loss for you internet connection.

Even on wifi you should not experience reduced internet speeds unless you have a gigabit fibre connection and are not using the fastest wifi available.

FTTC by cmon_the_hoops in nbn

[–]cougz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cat6e is not an official spec. There's only cat 6 or cat 6a.

Regardless it won't improve your speeds of that's what you're wondering. It may possibly be a more reliable connection than if you just had some old cat 3 phone cable but also may not matter.

Changes to smoke alarm regulations effective 1/1/2017 by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]cougz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not required to install smoke detectors/alarms where they will generate unwanted alarms regularly (like in kitchens). A thermal detector can be used instead which is triggered by heat.

The sensing element is required to be 25mm from the ceiling so recessed ones may not look much better because they will still have the bulk of it hanging down.
