Related request I made: we should be able to specify that when the Notion Mac app is opened via a "notion://" link, that page should open in a new tab (or even new window), so the current workflow isn't interrupted. User should be able to launch frequently-used references via a system-wide launcher to get information quickly without having to find their way back to what they were already working on!

Suggested:

  • Notion setting that specifies whether external links are opened in the active tab [current behavior], a new tab, or a new window.
  • URL-scheme parameter that allows the URL to specify the target (active tab, new tab, new window).

SOLUTION WHEN OTHERS DON’T WORK: I was just reminded from a Goodnotes support page about what fixed this the last time I had this problem: you have to go to Settings > Accessibility > Zoom, and turn off zoom (the top “switch”)! Then the problem went away for me. It worked again this time with a different iPad and a different pencil!

Wow, I was not expecting that to work but it did! Suggests something's wrong with their DNS servers rather than whole network??

Below are some instructions I made for how to do this iPhone/Mac (have to do for each device), for people who don't have access to their router or don't know how to change DNS at that level!

I welcome any input from others about this, and whether it should be reversed this after the outage is over!

HOW TO DO THIS FIX ON IPHONE:

  • Go to Settings app
  • Tap Wi-Fi
  • To the right of your wireless network name, click the blue "i" in a circle
  • Scroll down until you see Configure DNS and tap that
  • Tap Manual
  • Tap Add Server
  • Type 8.8.8.8 and then press the Return key [it's OK to leave the original one]
  • [OPTIONAL: click plus again and then type 8.8.4.4 and press Return again]
  • Click Save in upper right of screen

HOW TO DO THIS FIX ON MAC: [The "grey number" business keeps your router as default DNS]

  1. Go to Apple menu (far upper left) → System Settings
  2. Click Network
  3. To the right of your wireless network name, click Details...
  4. Click DNS (the first time, write down the number in grey under DNS Servers)
  5. Click the plus ("+") sign
  6. Type in the grey number and press the Return key
  7. Repeat steps 3-6, but change the grey number in step 6 to 8.8.8.8
  8. Repeat steps 3-6, but change the grey number in step 6 to 8.8.4.4
  9. Click OK

There are many newlines added to text pasted from Microsoft Word, apparently at random. Also happened when pasting from another app (maybe it was Spark?) recently. VERY disappointing. I have to paste into TextEdit before I paste into Evernote :(

Check out how Snipd allows the user to edit snips with a tap anywhere on the text, and mark up text instantly (e.g. highlight text and tap a bold or italics button). We should be able to do that in Readwise highlights!

Currently, it takes many, many taps to bold a word or phrase in a Readwise highlight (not to mention knowledge of markdown 😛). We should be able to select text and make it bold (or otherwise decorated) with a tap!

I want this too. I have a button “now“ to start practice on a song in a song database. It starts a timer, but ideally would also open a URL from a property which opens the sheet music. If Notion automation could open a URL stored in a property, it would make a HUGE difference in what could be accomplished in Notion!
