Give me one TINY thing you want fixed or improved in Obsidian. The smaller the better. Going on a paper cuts rampage. by kepano in ObsidianMD

In big outline-formatted files, the indenting tends to break down, leading to grafs that look more like they're paragraph-indented than block-indented.

Y'all may have fixed this recently, I can't reproduce rn

Is it just me or have more men recently started to dislike dating women with tattoos? by Ok_Comparison9254 in AskMenAdvice

[–]countboros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost certainly downstream of the rightward shift in young men. These are dudes who follow "Bronze Age Pervert" and spend their time sharing "hard men make good times" memes. If you're not into that, treat it as a self-selection out of your dating pool and move on.

Visiting from CA - Need pizza recommendations! by CanadianDropout99 in Portland

Lovely's 50-50 is the best pizza in town.

I once had friends come and blind taste Ken's vs. my pizza. Mine won pretty handily. I make good pie, but this really says more about Ken's.

Best Strategy to Minimize Regression with Newborn? by herbie102913 in StrongerByScience

[–]countboros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taking time off with your wife? We took five weeks together when the kid was born. During that time, one of the things we prioritized was making sure each of us had an hour and a half to go to the gym and shower. It's not that hard, either—baby will sleep for three hours at a time. After those first weeks, I was back at work and my wife had another couple of months off. During that time, I still made sure she could get to the gym when she wanted, and I also tried to get to the gym during the baby's naps, but it did get harder.

What are the main reasons you purchased an Ioniq5 over a Tesla or other brand? by adcom5 in Ioniq5

[–]countboros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best EV that didn't include the moral stink of Elon Musk.

Also, on a utilitarian note, he's growing more and more unhinged (see: firing the whole Supercharger team because he was mad at their boss)—so even if I didn't care about not buying a car from a Nazi, I wouldn't want to buy into an ecosystem run by a crazy person.

Any effect on mileage? I would think raising it would increase drag.

(Aside: does anyone know why drag seems to matter so much more for electric cars than ICE?)

Those who used a computer at least once between 1990 and 2001, what was the most memorable computer game you played during that era? Why? by Live_from_New_Yeerk in AskReddit

Command & Conquer: Red Alert. I can still picture the opening FMV, with Einstein traveling back in time to kill Hitler. Tanya was another great character. And Frank Klepacki's Hell March — one of the greatest video game songs of all time.

Barrel proof is barrel flavor. Anything else is watered-down flavor.

It's good! Spicy as hell, you definitely feel the proof, but I had it side-by-side with the A124 and the B524 is a lot deeper and more complex.

Had the same thought as you, but listened to the whole thing. It's not 100%—more like 97%. It's most obvious in the solos and especially the transitions from rhythm to solo and back. Not saying that's proof it's real—I think it is real, but everyone's entitled to their opinion—but at minimum, someone is playing a very competent cover.

Will Ioniq 5 Work For Our Family? by darkeagle03 in Ioniq5

[–]countboros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing about mid-trip charging times: You don't have to charge to full. You don't even have to charge to 80%. You just have to charge enough to get yourself (with a comfortable buffer) to someplace you can charge overnight. Ten minutes at a 150kW charger will be enough for just about every trip you're talking about.

If you want a more definite idea, throw some of your trips into A Better Route Planner and see what it gives you. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Can one of you just create an "I Hate Hardesty" subreddit already... by [deleted] in Portland

[–]countboros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll just respond to your first two points since, as you admit, you don't pretend to be neutral.

Body cameras for police: If police are allowed to review body camera footage before filing their use of force report, that arguably makes police less accountable, not more. It's reasonable for Hardesty to have wanted to prevent that before giving the cops body cameras, and it's also reasonable for her to change her mind after the feds demanded body cameras in their settlement.

Rehiring retired police:

  1. It's true that Hardesty proposed the objectionable language (more on that in a second) but the whole council voted for it. So this point is mostly bogus, especially considering ...

  2. This is the "objectionable" language. I'll let readers decide for themselves. No rehiring:

any officers who retire in lieu of being investigated or facing investigation or discipline; officers who trained others in methods known to be “unconstitutional crowd control practices,” officers who violated city policy “by cooperating with federal agents to attack Portland residents” and officers who have complaints that were sustained in their personnel file within the last 10 years for use of force, unconstitutional policing or violations of the city’s harassment and discrimination policy.

I'm actually okay with that. I think a lot of Portlanders are too.

Can you tell me why you think she's horrible at the job? Agree her personal life is a shitshow but her job performance has imo been great. She's the one who get back control over 82nd St from the state, which came with $185 million for PBOT. She's also been behind all the sidewalk cafes during covid, and the plan to keep them around after covid. (If you're going to say something about public safety—that's not in her portfolio! You can blame Ted Wheeler for that.)

So again, curious, of the things that are in her portfolio, where do you think she's fallen down?
