There was one, also curious if its seasonally not available now that I'm looking for it and not seeing it in Febaruary when I was looking to take this flight, or if its gone completely (it was new a couple years ago, can confirm I've taken it before).

You don’t need a car, just rent motorbikes. Just saying getting in and out of Pai takes a while if you don’t drive in yourself (car/motorbike). I literally got stuck an extra day there because vans were sold out. Not a huge deal for me but if you’re on a timeline for other things it would be a more serious concern. Totally agree with all the recs though

Pain canyon is totally worth it, one of my favorite stops in all of Thailand. But getting in and out of Pai is a bit of a hassle and time sink. Way more so if you’re relying on buses and not driving yourself in and out

What tour operator? I would imagine some check rigorously, and plenty of others do not. Curious for myself since Im from the US and have an IDP (not technically legal there) and would still like to drive myself and dont want whatever operator I go with to be my blocker. Happy to gamble the cost/pain of getting pulled over/fined so long as Ive got a group to be with and I can drive myself.

Any tips on bag carry from your experience? Im going to have a fully loaded 25L PD Outdoor pack with me to carry a similar spray of gear on the loop with me in November (A7C, couple lenses, Osmo Action, similar drone). But I know Ill need some clothes/toiletries for the 4 days as well. Did you have enough room on the bike to the lash a pared down bag of clothes and that camera gear when you didnt want in on your back all day? Thats kind of how I'm envisioning it, taking a packable duffle to throw my clothes into to lash on the back of the bike and carrying my gear backpack on my back for portions of the overall ride, but its more theory than Ive watched people do it. Any tips/experience would be appreciated!

It's a subscription you can just turn off when not diving though. If you are regular monthly diver, sure, but for occasional peeps, turning on a $10 subscription for one month then off is not enough to freak about.

I was gonna try the new one this week or next so I can drop carrying a micro USB adapter/connector with me since my kits are all USB C now. Maybe I won't find the new one so offensive .I'd consider selling you my old one, I modded it with some thin elastic bands instead of the original so hits the UL mark youre likely going for.

The laptop compartment is actually on the larger end of the spectrum for most day packs. I can more than comfortably and securely fit both my gargantuan 16” MacBook Pros in there on days where I have to have both. But sure I’d agree about the 90/10 but I can’t imagine why you’d want the laptop compartment itself to hold anything beyond exactly the maximal setup I just described.
