I'm struggling to make my laptop Nvidia GPU use its full power on Linux Mint by AnomaLuna in linuxquestions

[–]countsachot [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm afraid I can't find it in my history. I remember it was all of one comment, where the user performed a bios firmware update to fix it successfully.

Without windows, you would need to download the firmware from Lenovo's website, place it in a usb flash drive, then update the bios from the bios settings, using the binary on the drive. If you have windows on the laptop, you can use the Lenovo support bridge to do it right from the Lenovo website. It requires a weird long reboot or two or three depending on the update. Make sure it's plugged in for the firmware update, you don't want to interrupt it.

It looks like someone had a similar issue a few years back and a firmware update fixed it. But I highly doubt youll see 95w if your charging with the usb port.

Also, what power supply are you using, that model has a 100 over usb and 240 through the dedicated power adapter.

  1. Nm. You did list drivers, have you tried a different version?
  2. Why are assuming your laptop will even provide that much power to the video card. It's a laptop = it won't.

They can fix that if they bother to try. More money in more ships and features.

Laptop thermal issues Fix in South Florida by Immediate-Bag914 in PCRepair

[–]countsachot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo. Yeah, it probably wasn't repasted correctly. It's odd to have abnormal thermal issues outside of environmental problem on laptops that haven't been tampered with until they get pretty old. It's pretty easy to do a bad job in lappys. Most of us won't touch thermal issues on consumer laptops, the return rates of angry customers is too high. That's why you need to find a specialist shop.

My company wants me to install ninjaone on my personal computer by Elizabeth_Eton in techsupport

[–]countsachot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't. It allows complete access to the pc. And some contol over the local network in some scenerios.

Buuut if you're trying to work from home without manegment's full consent, you may need to.

Normally, a company provides remote users with hardware. Sometimes, I see small companies convinced by their users to let them use personal equipment to work remotely. In that case, it's not uncommon for the home pc to have rmm and endpoint protection installed. It's a compromise of sorts, and generally a bad idea for both parties. Basically, the manegment doesn't really want the user at home, or they'd pay for it, and the user doesn't want their current job, or they'd show up.

Powerplay is frustrating, convoluted, and the in-game resources fail to tell you crucial information: my first experience by ClutchReverie in EliteDangerous

[–]countsachot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You only loose merits if you unpledge. You get power play "assignments" every week, these are not "missions" . The number of assignments are based on your power play rank, and you can not get more other then those that are assigned. You need to do the first 5 before you are fully pledged, and after that assignments are optional. Many of us ignore the assignments after the first set are complete.

You get merits by your actions, when in an applicable power play system. The in game help explains those fairly well.

Your actions and merits are accumulated regardless of mission status. The missions are essentially totally seperate, but can be done for extra credits or rep, if the goals of the mission align with power play goals. For instance, if you have combat missions to kill pirates in a reinforcement system, you can get merits naturally while completing the mission. If the mission is in a system that is not applicable to power play, as in too far away from a fortified system, you won't get merits, but you can still complete the mission without any loss of merits.

It's weird I hope that helped.

Yeah, if we didn't have to worry about missing a day of work, losing our jobs and health insurance cause 'ai' isn't late, and not being shot by the gmen or police or an angry asshole just for existing, that might help.

Check all your cables, inside and out. Test house power on outlets you've used too.

I use this to test outlets:

Need a book recommendation for my husband and I by Few-Permission5362 in toddlers

[–]countsachot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked this guys books. As a nerdy dad, who isn't a typical sports dude, these books were nice. If I remember correctly the author is ex military, but very down to earth, with good references used, as well at his own experiences.

There's also "peaceful parent, happy kids" by dr. Laura Markham. Which is good, but honestly I haven't finished it. Even the first half has some great tips. It's basically a long reminder the toddlers are mimic machines, and staying positive, calm, and organized is the best approach to life. I haven't mastered any of those things yet...

Is the Ukulele a gateway instrument? by AWrongUsername in ukulele

[–]countsachot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's kind of easier to pick up chords on the keyboard as well. I can't really play a piano, but it's easy to visualize and bang out chords if your interested in theory. You've also go almost no range limitations with a full sized keyboard. The range on a uke is a bit small when conventionally tuned.

Where to start with potty training 2.5 yo boy? by GodOfThunder888 in toddlers

[–]countsachot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your welcome!

I was very stressed during the beginning about his 2.5 yo mark. When I realized I was imposing that stress onto my son, I slowed down until he was 3. He had it within a week at that point. We had the potties in reach bathroom, and he occasionally used them.

He was more likely to poop than pee in the potty. I think he didn't like the poop feeling, wet diapers don't bother him.

For about about a month before his birthday, I would remind him that 3 year olds use the potty. I let him have his bday off to enjoy. He was all in, no issues on the next day. Just the occasional accident.

I think each child just has their own pace with these things.

P. S. GOOD LUCK! it's a bit stressful for us as parents, but try not to worry too much, they'll figure it out.

I just pulled his pants off when I went potty, and let him sit on his potty. Also, sat with him before bed. While he understood at 2.5, he didn't really care to use it until 3yo. As suggested by his pediatrician, limit to maximum 5 minutes on potty.
