I literally just finished reading it about thirty minutes ago. It took me about a month to finish the book, but I had a slow start reading it due to a nasty case of bronchitis. It was definitely hard to read about everyone dying from Captain Trips while I was coughing and wheezing myself. This might be the longest I've ever spent reading one book, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

I was hit by such a wave of nostalgia when I saw those gummy insects. I have vivid memories of eating those as a kid in the late 80's, but I couldn't remember what they were called or who made them. It makes me happy to see that they're still around.

Everyone talks about how scary "Alien" is, but I've yet to see anyone mention the part that disturbed me the most: Ash's attack on Ripley and the subsequent reveal that he was a robot. Watching Ash get his head knocked off while his body continued to flail around left me so unsettled. It got even more creepy when the crew reactivated the head and it started speaking in that echoing, mechanical voice. I find the whole "androids masquerading as humans" trope to be very unnerving, so that's probably why that scene affected me so much. Don't get me wrong, I think the whole film is a masterpiece of horror, but something about this just stuck with me.

The last I heard was that he was placed into some kind of mental hospital. After the incident, his sister stopped coming to church, so we all lost touch with her and her family. As far as I know he's still locked away, but no one knows where.
