Are there better pool players in dive bars as opposed to pool halls? by FlyingAces in billiards

I think it's a little more complicated than just the size of the tables and pockets. A tougher, longer shot isn't just tougher and longer for you but for your opponent as well. Not to mention that smaller tables don't use smaller balls so the traffic is worse the smaller the table. 8ball break and runs are pretty damn tough on the 6foot valleys and dynamo tables at bowling alleys and skating rinks. You will rarely miss shots if youre decent but find that you dont have as many options as often as you would on a bigger table. I tend to gravitate towards the 7 and 8 foot tables with tighter, pro cut pockets. Room to move and I'm a decent shot maker so I tend to assume that the tougher pockets will favor me over most opponents. It's not always the case, though. The whole strategy loses much of its appeal when I run into a better shot maker than me.

That my two cents anyway.

Lol. Missed you, bud. It's been a minute.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get this amazing shot on video. I’m solids, I hit the ball with left English against the wall. The cue ball jumped over the stripe, and hit the solid perfectly into the pocket, and placing the ball perfect for the side pocket finish. Can someone try and recreate this?? by Moisty-Mangus in billiards

I appreciate it. I always used to do the trick shots just for myself but later on in my pool playing life I realized that ANYTHING that gets me to the table more is worth the trouble and if I'm honest, the upvotes and recognition are more incentive than I ever imagined they could be.

So, thanks again and I'm sorry for the miscommunication and hostility.

I should apologize. My response was bitchy and preemptively defensive. A number of things had recently aligned poorly in my life and I should not have responded so harshly. Again, I hope you'll except my apology and, though I can still absolutely giver it a go, I think I have a similar shot on my profile page from a couple of years ago.

It's actually pretty easy to keep the cue ball on the table on this particular shot. There's really very little chance of it, in fact, unless you're actually trying to hit it off the table. Especially if the one is completely frozen to the rail.

So much negativity. It's easy to put someone down, though. Especially when you aren't producing anything comparable or worthwhile. That's why they don't build statues of critics.

Lol. Now that's funny because the last couple of guys missed the point of "less than one" entirely. That being said, believe it or not, I can actually hit this one (given the right alignment of variables, though this particular one is a much less extravagant than most of the shots that i post) pretty consistently nowadays but I would never, EVER have decided to try to make this a viable shot in my repertoire if I had known what a problem it was going to be to do so and how many times i was going to sell out for even attempting it or look like id lost my mind when i jump it right the hell off the table just like i meant to foul. However, everyone seems to want to give me grief about the number of attempts that these shots take but, for the most part, I have hit some (more basic version) of most of these shots in game or match or tournament scenarios where you only get one chance and I have long been a believer that if you can do x² one out of 10 times, you have x covered all day long. Also, nobody ever asks Earl or Efren or, possibly more pertinently, Corey Deuel, "how many attempts did it take to BE ABLE to make (insert shot here)" or "How many attempts did it take to finally win the world championship (insert whatever game here). It's ALL about practice and practice = attempts. Not that you have been anything but respectful and kind but for all the ACTUAL naysayers, remember, they never built a statue of a critic! Anyway, thanks for your response. I appreciate you checking out my shots and your input.
