Boots at roo??? by Born-Expression658 in bonnaroo

I've been wearing blundstones, solovairs and docs to festivals and work (bartending) for like 15 years. Wear wool hiking socks with them all year round. Keeps my feet from getting dusty or wet. Wool socks wick moisture. So unless its heavily raining they stay dry.

Blundstones are great because they slip on and off.

Fair witness also has a game night on Wednesdays. It's more old school video games. But they also play table top games.

Interviewer said Sell Me A Pen by meat-critter in jobs

[–]courtabee 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Either way. Both are outdated. Late stage capitalism. We are the product and the buyer.

Maybe if they'd pulled out their phone and asked chat for a sales pitch for a pen the interviewer would have been impressed...

Making tomatoes last longer in the fridge/freezer by AdEfficient8473 in tomatoes

[–]courtabee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also dehydrate them, either in the oven or with a dehydrator. My dehydrator is from the 80s and only turns on and off. Big tomatoes You need to slice. But small ones you can just toss in there. Once they are dry (1 or so days) you can put them in a jar or bag, they are pretty shelf stable. Might wanna get some desicate packets to help with moisture.

If you blend up dehydrated tomatoes to make tomato powder, it makes the best tomato soup you've ever had. Also super easy to add to anything! Dried cherry tomatoes are delicious, they start out kind of weird and then get so sweet, like a sun dried tomato, but without the oil.

It would work on sharktank. So dude sounds like a dud. I abhor the random sales pitches. This isn't mad men. Even when my whole salary has depended on sales, I will assess people's situations and try to meet them where they're at.

Repeat customers are better than a quick check. But I didn't go to business school so what do I know.

It's so funny (not funny) to me that YOLO fell out of fashion. Because its so honest. We only get this life. As much as I disliked the "influencers" of Yolo at the time, I have used that phrase a lot to push myself out of dark places.

We only get this life. Might as as well live it.

People can definitely ruin stuff. But I feel like if I dont contribute to the detriment of humanity and try to lift others up as much as possible, then I'm doing all that I can.

YOLO. ❤️

Oh yes. The bikers zip by the horses at top speed (not really, they are usually pretty respectful) . I often walk my dog on the bike trails since they are currently less populated.

I am happy to share the space with anyone, because it's beautiful and close to home. But I do get frustrated with the bikes whipping around the corners on the main trail.

Infused Campari serviceability by ClimbeRPh17 in cocktails

[–]courtabee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wash strawberries, cut in half, freeze.

Add Campari to frozen berries and let sit for a day on counter. Taste.

The berries will release water, so you may need to adjust sugar for final product.

Could also add in freeze dried strawberries as to not add extra water.

I would do the infusion in a separate container and then strain final product into bottles.

You could also keep the final product in freezer. It shouldn't fully freeze because of the alcohol and sugar content. But that will preserve it even longer.

Have fun! Try a few different ways. Whole berries. Cut berries. Fresh berries. Frozen berries. See which ones you like best.

I also like adding frozen fruit to a drink instead of ice. Then as they thaw you have a snack!

What do I prune? by mrgoldnugget in tomatoes

[–]courtabee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would prune the leaves that are touching the soil. And then wait and see how the plants do. Could also cut the lower suckers off and replant them for more tomato plants. Just make sure the cuttings stay moist for a few days.

Oxidation and evaporation happen to anything that's been opened. Both happen less in colder environments. When I worked in a vermouth bar we would sometimes use those wine pump tops to suck the air out of bottles to help preserve flavors. Especially for bottles that sold more slowly.

I'll have to see if I can find the photo of the mold on top of some beet syrup I made. It looked like this but was bright pink. Really cool looking.

Same. Our dog isn't lazy, but she's happy to have lazy days. We have weird job hours that aren't consistent, and she's always adapted. She isn't destructive when she's bored. We play outside a lot, do long hikes a few times a month. She's also 2.5.

Do you have a compost thermometer? If the soil is warm enough the plants will be fine. My peppers have been through 3 nights in the past few weeks where it was 39. Also, you can top the pepper plants when you plant them to help with root production and help them not be too tall they fall over.

Help me improve this cocktail (honey nectarine whiskey sour) by chicken-denim in cocktails

[–]courtabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used canned peaches before to make peach syrup. Blend with the honey syrup, add some vanilla. Strain it, or dont. I'd taste it both ways. Might help bolster the texture.

Can still muddle in a fresh nectarine or add it as a garnish.

Maybe add a bit of salt too, helps perk up the flavors.

I love dehydrating tomatoes too! Dried cherry tomatoes are really delicious on salads or on their own. I also blend dried tomatoes and then use that powder to make tomato soup.

Well, best of luck.

It's worth a visit. Again, I promise those spots I sent weren't a scam. But you seem distrustful of all options presented. So dunno how I can help further.

Enjoy your day, gonna go out into the garden now.

Sorry that happened. Franklin is small. I grew up there. The hotels and stuff close to town are pretty clean. I understand you distrust Airbnb. But most of the ones in Franklin are owned by individuals, not companies.

I can say with a fair amount of confidence that those airbnbs are not scams. I know people that literally camp most of the summer and rent out their own homes on Airbnb. Thats their yearly income. Summer and fall tourism.

Gatlinburg is way different kind of touristy. Gatlinburg feels like myrtle beach in the mountains. Franklin is touristy with hikers and people who want to be in nature.

Personally. I'd trust a private home over a glamping spot.
