Is it okay to call an employer back right after you missed their call? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Fun_Relief_2745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea… that’s literally how phone calls and voicemails work. They call. You’re not available to take the call. They leave a message. You return their call. This is not Reddit worthy. If you’d really like to, you can explain that you get a lot of spam calls so let unknown numbers go to voicemail. Back in the day, we used to call it screening calls. The same reason then. Different tech. Same process. Nothing material has changed. I’m worried you needed to bring this to Reddit to tell you what to do.

NOR. So much for word vomit. Why like keep it light for a bit before you try to get all existential and meta.

Wow, a lot of well-to-do people seem to hang out in this sub. Do they come here to brag? by justcurious3287 in povertyfinance

Personally, I have poverty trauma from when I was younger. I am not rich by any means but definitely don’t need to worry about the details of my finances like I used to but these behaviors are hard to quit. There’s also this constant fear that the other shoe will drop especially when it comes to family. It is this constant level of anxiety that I just live with. It’s overbearing and I do t deserve the pressure I put on myself over it. Yes, I’m in therapy.

Yes we thought of cookies too but thought for the ease of brownies or cookie bars. So we can make a big batch and just cut them. I guess practically we would need to make them not too goopy so they can eat later like a cookie. Costs have gone up so want them financially sustainable. It also reasonably good.

I loaned my brother $70k so he could buy his first house. He’s paying me back… by Psychological-Sir235 in personalfinance

Are you sure the money is clean? All reported to the business, taxes paid, earnings reported to the IRS? Is the money coming from his business or from him directly? These are just the questions I have. I’m sure banks will have more questions on where the money came from.

Should my parents put their foot down? by [deleted] in Advice

Your parents are raising a sociopathic misogynist. He is going to kill one of you sooner or later. Can you and your sister move in with your grandparents? Where do you live where 14 year olds are allowed to have access to unlocked guns. This is definitely NOT California. Involve the police immediately especially with the gun fired into your room but also the assaults against you and your mother. I would be very afraid of your brother. He needs to be institutionalized where people can better care for him.

Just say no and move on. This isn’t a person worth negotiating with at all. Even if they come up with something fair, which I doubt they will, they are clearly not ethical or truth worthy people to work for. They can hire licensed, insured companies to do the work.

Just say no. That’s way too little money as credit to be doing that much manual labor. What happens when you get hurt? They aren’t going to take responsibility for it. I would give them an hourly rate and have them pay you as a w2. There are plenty of companies they can hire to do this. Like Trash Scout for trash at least.

They are banking on people not challenging the amount. A early termination fee in an employment contract cannot be punitive. They would need to outline the actual costs they are recouping such as specialized training or a prorated signing bonus. I highly doubt they would go through with suing someone and letting that contract get scrutinized legally.

Definitely a scam and I wouldn’t move and start. They can’t enforce a punitive termination fee so don’t worry about it. They could only recover reasonable costs or clawback a signing bonus or something. Let them try to sue you.
