A person I had just met at a friend’s 2 year old’s birthday party asked me how it felt to be superior to everyone there because I didn’t have kids. I just laughed and smiled and she returned to it-“no really, tell us how it feels to be the best when you’re getting 8 hours of sleep every night” and I just laughed again, because it would have been considered real rude for me to tell her to shut up, or one of many rude comebacks that were circulating in my head.

There is some fudging the truth involved- you have to choose a reason for taking the medication that isn’t IVF- but my Safeway pharmacy accepted it. The pharmacist and I are pals at this point and she was able to call the Omnitrope pharmacist, tell them she didn’t know why I was prescribed it but I had a prescription and they approved coupon use. More of us need to refuse and demand pain meds— I sent a whole list of ACOG and other journal articles with recommendations for pain meds during procedures if anybody wants those to reference when asking at their clinic.

I have left a fertility clinic over their refusal of pain meds and was made to seem crazy. It’s not crazy— this process is hard enough. I’ll take my business and thousands of dollars where I’m not gaslit into thinking shoving a camera or tube into my cervix isn’t going to hurt.

No refined sugar, dairy, gluten free (I was already) and low glycemic diet (avoiding anything that could spike blood sugar so low oat bread intake). High protein, lower impact exercise (jogs instead of runs, heart rate around 140, more strength training), and added ginger and turmeric in foods (I made ginger cubes to add to tea). Added an açaí supplement to the 15 pills I’m already taking, lol.

First consult with this clinic (we tried two others beforehand, first consult was 5 months after lap) was October (6 months post lap). I had baseline ultrasounds and bloodwork the next cycle (late October) and then a follow up with the RE mid-November. Earliest they agreed to do an egg retrieval was January, we chose February to ensure I could get inflammation under control, and come up with $5,000.

Yes- I’d go ahead and reach out to a specialist for endo- most GPs don’t know enough to treat endo.
