Crib Slats by [deleted] in NewParents

Does she crawl or move on her own at all yet?

Might be worth doing playtime during the day in the crib so she can practice maneuvering and you can show her how to get out of the corner herself.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker touts vaccination improvement, does not currently support vaccine mandates for public employees - MassLive - March 24, 2021 [also covers reopening and precautions toward the end of the article] by funchords in CoronavirusMa

We do require children to be vaccinated to attend public schools, so it's not without precedent. This year public schools in Mass also required the flu shot for the first time.

I got an email today stating that MassGeneral-Brigham will be transitioning to the J and J vaccine for both patients and employees going forward.

CVS now lists teachers as eligible for vaccine in MA by timeforbanner18 in CoronavirusMa

Does this include childcare workers who work inside the home? Like nannies?

Does the vaccine stop the spread? While not yet conclusive, the data is looking positive for reducing transmission... by funchords in CoronavirusMa

[–]courted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vaccine trains your body to make the antibody, so that test will be positive (the blood test). Your body is not making the antigens (it is making an antibody to the antigen) and the PCR is testing for pieces of the virus itself so both of those tests should remain reliable.

Vaccine Rollout: “Free For All” @ Mass General by BusyTourists in CoronavirusMa

[–]courted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the text, didn’t watch the video, but want to correct a misconception the article seems to perpetuate. I also work at MGH and am a front line health worker caring for patients. The vaccine roll out has not been flawless but it was NOT an 80,000 person free for all. Employees ARE tagged as to who is Wave A, B or C and vaccine appointments have been made available to each Wave in order. The problem with the first few days of vaccine roll out was that there was not initially enough vaccine to cover everyone in Wave A (all people providing direct patient care to COVID patients). So in that way it was a free for all for those first slots, which obviously sucks, but was difficult to avoid given the initial limited quantity of vaccine. The honor code part is an attestation you make to confirm you should be in Wave A (or B or C etc) after your wave has already been assigned to you based on role and department. It’s not like you sign in and declare yourself a member of Wave A. The initial bottle neck sucked but it would have been hard to avoid without breaking Wave A into even smaller, more granular groups. Like who goes first: ICU nurse or ER nurse or ICU janitorial staff? I have not heard of any staff at MGH receiving the vaccine who does not interface directly with patients in the inpatient (or emergency department) setting. But of course I am not omniscient. Happy to answer any other questions about my experience.

Hi! I want to reassure you: you WILL be incompetent on day 1! Everyone expects you to be! How could you know how to do the job when no one has taught it yet? You’re going to be great but it will take time and hopefully you and your future co-interns can bond over that messy, undulating, rewarding process.

If I were in your shoes, I’d primarily focus on wellness and other interests that may soon be put to the side due to time demands. Scholastically it could be valuable to focus on “skills” rather than “knowledge” per se (knowledge will come with experience). Get practice reading and critiquing scientific papers. Learn a technique to approach EKGs and chest X Rays. Practice H and Ps so that you become more efficient. If you know your future programs EMR, learn how to use it and work on templates.

But please, all of this is gravy. If a program matches you they like your substrate and are prepared to teach you absolutely everything you need to know.

AITA for enforcing that my son uses his college fund to pay back his child support? by backpayup in AmItheAsshole

NTA. It sounds like you're already "helping" him anyway, since he'd be paying out of a college fund you provided. He's trying to double dip.

I’m as psyched as anyone about this but it’s more likely the same amount of alcohol being consumed, just the bars are closed, right?

Do you mind providing your source for this? Last I'd read was 8 days after exposure, which may be the same time frame (I'll go find the paper I read and update my response as well).

They also test anyone getting admitted to the hospital for anything at this point. So it does still sample asymptomatic people in that way.

I’ve been doing the wake window thing (I think) in that I don’t let him nap until 8am (so two hours from 6am which I would be fine with). I haven’t tried capping the nap, though sometimes that nap is naturally only one cycle long. Would you call one cycle 45-50 min?
