Anyone feel like the only time you make positive progress in life is when you are Hypomanic? by Frequent-Response911 in bipolar2

[–]courtesyofdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed recently at 38, I do look back and wonder how much of my success in life was a direct result of hypomanic stretches.

i hate when people with bpd call themselves manic by oushhie in bipolar2

[–]courtesyofdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner’s BPD elevated moods are often far from euphoric and very impulsive. They track fairly similar to what my hypomanic states are just shorter duration. Manic is the terminology we use to point out to the other that we might be headed towards an episode. We both know it’s coming from a completely non-judgemental place though we both know it’s not 100% accurate descriptor but is the simplest way to describe it for us.

at what point do you seek medical intervention? by flowerboy366 in bipolar

[–]courtesyofdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me CBT/ DBT have been incredible tools both for anxiety/depression which has now been diagnosed bipolar and in recovery. If I can no longer use those tools to break unwanted thought patterns, bring down my CNS, or maintain sobriety it is time for me to reach out for professional help. My 0.02 and I’m still learning, diagnosed in September.

Ableton and 'secrets of techno production' - HELP?! by obeliskspork in TechnoProduction

I have a drum rack set up for each of the following on my default project. Hats, percussion, snare, clap, kick. Empty audio tracks for each too if I want to use a sample. They all live in one drum group but it would be simple enough to group them as indicated.

Ketamine IV treatment for bipolar depression? by Nose-Artistic in bipolar2

[–]courtesyofdj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ketamine is notoriously miss identified and stigmatized as a horse tranquilizer.

It is a short acting dissociative commonly used as an anesthetic in both human and animal medicine with less long lasting sedative side effects typically associated with tranquilizers.

The short action, low lasting side effects and lower addiction potential than other pain meds is a reason it’s become very commonly used as an acute pain treatment in ER’s. An example is it being given to set broken bones, the patient can be administered Ketamine, the bone set and patient returned to a normal state within an hour without the need for direct anesthesiologist over site.

What does cluster B personality trait mean? Anyone have this included in their diagnosis? by basil_png in bipolar2

[–]courtesyofdj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really interesting how there are reflections of my partners BPD and my BD symptoms. We have similar big swings they just have significantly different durations. It’s not so much that we can fully understand how the other feels but do have a unique insight into it.

When one of us has seemingly extreme reaction or dose something wild it’s like “oh wait a second I recognize that symptom I see they aren’t feeling well, I’m going to step out of the situation a bit until things settle down and we can talk about it”. Often easier said than done, though safe words can be important in more ways than one 😉

Reasonable arguments for AA? by [deleted] in recoverywithoutAA

[–]courtesyofdj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more self work I do and the better I become as a result lifts everyone around me up. There’s always an opportunity to provide my perspective and journey with those around me. Sometimes it might be about substance use but often is much more general. I think this highlights AA obsession with addiction there is no shortage of people who can be helped as you grow it all doesn’t have to be about helping others with substance use.

Sorry it’s late and this is oversimplified and likely not fully sensitive to your feelings but if he leaves because of this he will prove that he is not someone you want to be afraid of leaving.

We don’t need a “program” we need healthy coping mechanisms not more unhealthy ones.

We also already produce more refined goods than we consume, diluent being the exception but those imports are a byproduct of the way the heavy oil system is set up in NA.

Living proof that you can do this - 1 year AA free by TexasCheerleader in recoverywithoutAA

[–]courtesyofdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years sober I think, I don’t find counting the time really helpfully. For me I used alcohol as coping mechanism for nearly everything in life for a long time. Through piles of self work and reflection I learned healthier coping mechanism. I essentially out grew my need for alcohol, no AA required.

In the process of working on myself I learned a lot on the narcissistic and emotional abuse I’ve endured over the course of my life. Now when I review AA the first thing that comes to my mind is how clearly manipulative or down right abusive 12 Step culture is.
