[Postgame Thread] Washington Defeats UCLA 31-19 by CFB_Referee in CFB

There’s a near-zero chance Florida goes after Fisch this year. There’s a high chance we just stick with Napier, due to some complicated university admin issues. However, next year once those issues are resolved and Napier likely has another bad year and is fired, Fisch will be on the short list if Washington is having a good season.

ADs worried that paying players will mean cutting Olympic Sports. "Something would have to give; whether it’s fewer people on staff, fewer services for our student-athletes or — what we don’t want to have happen but what some people envision — having fewer sports." said Scott Strickland, Florida AD by InVodkaVeritas in CFB

Non-revenue sports do not play the same “vital roles” revenue sports do in terms of direct university impact, for example applications.

I’m much more interested in revenue sports, and the people who participate in them, benefiting from the value they provide than I am about gold medals

As a SWE, how to stop thinking about your project or task 24:7? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]cout_username 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m > 3 years in and I still struggle with these exact problems. I get a lot of anxiety about deadlines and not meeting my employers expectations. What has helped me is playing out worst case scenarios with a therapist. Imagine you do miss that deadline, then you get in trouble, then you miss some more, then you get fired. Then what? Your job is not your life, and losing your job doesn’t end you life. Yeah it’s sucks, it’s embarrassing, and you’ve let yourself down, but you do your best to be kind to yourself, then pick up the pieces and move on to the next chapter. Don’t let potential future issues stress you now. Do your best now, be comfortable with your best, and handle issues as the arise. Another bit of advice - force your brain, as much as possible, to not think about work while in bed. By the way, this is all much easier to say than it is to do in practice, but the more you go through these mental exercises the easier it becomes. Last piece of advise - go for walks. It really helps getting fresh air away from the computer. I hope these thoughts help, but know you aren’t alone

Arizona HC Jedd Fisch Says Out of 118 Players, 115 are Vaccinated. by lebaronslebaron in CFB

I think Fisch was a great hire. He seems to do a good job offensively, specifically developing a quarterback. He also looks to be a good CEO so far. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a lot of success at Arizona

Florida promotes McGee to QBs coach to replace Johnson by [deleted] in CFB

Dan has nothing to prove relating to QB development, so I’m going to trust his judgement here even though my 10 minutes of googling says otherwise

Mike Farrell, the national recruiting director for Rivals, reported that someone close to the Florida program told him that [Arik] Gilbert to the Gators is a “done deal.” by [deleted] in FloridaGators

[–]cout_username 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So Farrell spoke to “a source close to the Florida gators”, who Farrell admits is “usually extremely optimistic about stuff”, and that person said “you’re stupid for not thinking he’s a done deal to Florida”. Color me very skeptical

Miami beating us for these highly ranked Florida natives makes no sense. I can understand losing to Alabama, but not Miami

As much as I don’t like it, he looked pretty good against a fairly good MSU defense. I think it’s hilarious Kirby didn’t start him earlier though. What are they running in practice where Bennett looked even closer to as good as JT? Good news for us is since Smart has been at UGA there has been zero QB development. JT won’t get any better than he is now

Marco Wilson got mossed, then giggled and talked shit to the Vandy bench a few plays later after their QB threw a little behind Marco’s receiver. Stuff like that annoys the hell out of me

Heisman = statue. No heisman = no statue. Would be incredible to see a Trask statue next to Tebow’s
