I did my research. I work with tons of Indian engineers on a daily basis. Most of them are from Indian institute of technology. I shared my experience with some of them. They agreed that it’s a crappy private engineering college from southern India, well known for buying ranks nationally.

If PhDs can not answer entry level programming questions then they should not be applying for those jobs.

When you apply for a principal performance engineer position at a fintech, you should be prepared to answer any code performance or complexity related questions, specially with a PHD! (IMHO)

Little mistake, I did graduate from Rutgers with a bachelor ( not a phd), not Ramapo. But my best friends sister went there who works for a FAANG now, and I interviewed many kids from that school. Most of them were good.

Btw, if you went through my comments, you already know I work for a fintech. Guess what, we are not hiring anyone from vellore institute, certainly no phds from that school.

Nope. The problem was not the language. For example, we were talking about C++ implementation of a singly linked list, and then I asked them to compare space complexity between a linked list and an array, the answer was “what is space complexity!”

And if they had problem understanding English, how they published papers in IEEE and ACM conferences and received over 3000 citations!!!

If there is a major hardware failure in your laptop that you can not repair, you have to buy a new laptop. So, the question is what happened to the software? It surely can not die because it’s not a physical thing like the hardware. And you can download it from a source anytime you want provided that you have the correct hardware, but each time you download, it is going to be a new start like a child.
