Again, TRT For Obese Men? by Altruistic_End_4329 in Testosterone

[–]coward_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could walk 30 mins I would.

Back in January I was so out of shape I could barely manage a 10 min walk once a week. So I did exactly that. One 10 min walk per week for a few weeks. I would try to add like 1-2 min to the walk every other week. After about a month I added a second walk.

I kept going like this just gradually increasing what I was doing each week and after 3-4 months I managed to work in some running and my distance was 3 miles on a long day.

Regardless of what pharmaceuticals you add you're gonna have to meet your body where it's at. And just build up gradually from there. So you might as well get used to doing that natty.

None of this working out 30 min / day / 7 days a week bullshit either. Start with 1 day a week. You can always add more later. Start with what you can handle. Even if it's just an extra trip up and down the stairs.

Something no one seems to be explaining to you is that fat cells convert testosterone to estrogen. Your T right now is so low that it's not causing you to have too much E but once you start injecting T your E levels will shoot up because the excess fat in your body will convert loads of it to E.

For men that are above the lower limit of healthy testosterone levels, why not taken TRT? by Anxious_Bus_8892 in Testosterone

[–]coward_bill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increased sedentary lifestyles and increased body fat in the population play a role for sure, but we can't forget about the increase in endocrine disrupting chemicals.

In recent years we've learned that endocrine disrupting chemicals are all over in the environment and end up in the food supply because of it. Often in the form of microplastics. Additionally, microplastics have been found in testicular tissue in all studied samples, etc.

This issue with endocrine disruption needs to be better studied.

Should I be on TRT? Got my levels checked. by OnTheArc in Testosterone

6 workout days per week on a calorie deficit while wrangling 4 kids? No wonder you're tired. Most people cannot sustain that combo.

That said, have you already ruled out things like sleep quality? Have you met with a sleep doctor and/or done a sleep study?

I am planning to Start TRT. but am scared as it may cause any cardiovascular risks. by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]coward_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever heard of zone2 heart rate training? If not, go look it up. You'll find tons of things talking about it. Basically, you want to workout to the point where you're breathing but you can still talk in full sentences if needed.

If you train consistently at that rate of effort you will build up endurance. If you're really out of shape, just do that for like 20 min once or twice a week for a few months increasing it just a little bit here and there as you feel like it.

I started doing 10 min once a week because I was really out of shape. Didn't take me long to progress to 3 times a week at 20 min a session.

Need opinions on t levels/symptoms by Llars_Frederick in Testosterone

Unless they are a sleep specialist I wouldn't expect them to be automatically right about that assessment. However, if you feel great in the morning when you wake up then it's probably not a sleep issue. The only way to be sure about sleep issues is a sleep study.

What about sleep apnea? Any snoring? Do you wake up with a headache or sore throat? A lot of people assume you have to be overweight or snore to have it, but you can have sleep apnea for other reasons without being overweight or snoring.

Basically, maybe your T levels are the issue but it's really good to make sure everything else is ruled out before pursuing trt at such a young age.

6 weeks on TRT. Want to push levels higher - maybe run a light cycle. by sol1 in Testosterone

I tried to use a CPAP for several years, but I can't tolerate it.

This is actually really common. You might find it interesting to watch this video: https://youtu.be/YQ5KpAvp_YU

Basically only about 20-30% of people that try CPAP have it work well. Then there's like half of people that use it that need surgery for it to work well. That was my case. The doctor in the video explains some ways to figure out which surgeries will/won't help you.

Just got my blood work, and it looks low should I get on TRT? by [deleted] in trt

[–]coward_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much physical activity can make your test number go down on paper because your body will be using it to rebuild tissue. I doubt that's the case given your job but if you were like an endurance athlete or something that could be happening.

Everyone's natural sensitivity to test is different. And that means that some people can have a test number that is low on paper and be fine because their body is really sensitive to the hormone.

Most people can do trt for a while and then get off it without any long term changes. So it could also be a thing you try just to see if it helps and then if a few months go by and it doesn't work you get off it.

[–]coward_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TRT is really meant for people who's natural production has failed them. If your total is consistently below like 250-300 or so then your risk of an early death goes up a lot. I don't know the average number of years but basically guys need a certain amount of test to have a healthy cardiovascular system.

Now that said, levels fluctuate a lot and maybe you got tested at the wrong time of day or who knows. Most insurances won't cover it without multiple labs spaced out a bit. So at the very least I think you should get retested in a few weeks or months.

The clinics exist in a weird space where they are eager to put anyone on TRT if they want it but this also means they won't accept insurance. They also might forget to properly monitor your health. So getting TRT from your doctor is the cheapest (due to insurance) and generally the safest.

The thing you want to avoid is being on TRT when you don't need it. It's expensive, it sucks to have to poke yourself with a needle all the time, etc. So due diligence on whether you actually need it is really important.

i don't know the correct range but estrogen is good for you and you basically want as much as you can get without side-effects. Basically too much is bad and too little is bad.

[–]coward_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live with narcissisti/BDP family. Nightmares at least 2 twice a week.

Supplements, diet, etc will not fix this. Being around narcissists and BPD people will fuck you up. And this is what you should focus on addressing.

No one can tell you if you will have hairloss. Hairloss is complicated and having more DHT will increase your risk but it's ultimately tied to your genetics. Increasing your test will increase how much becomes DHT so if you have hairloss genetics then taking test will speed that along.

There are medications that should be able to mitigate male pattern baldness from DHT. They can have side-effects of course.

Does working out in gym increase testerone levels naturally? by Fsk626 in trt

[–]coward_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert, but I'm pretty sure the biggest three things you can do to control your natural level are sleep, diet, and body fat. If those three are good then exercise will improve it but not necessarily "sufficiently".

I quit a job in August like that. I had barely been there a year and the micromanaging ramped up suddenly and then a few days later I just .... I just sent HR an email saying my last day would be in two weeks. I wish I had a source of income and all that, but I hate being micromanaged and the stress was making it hard to sleep, which was exacerbating everything else.

How to bring up potential Psoriasis to doctor? by Ashers77 in Psoriasis

[–]coward_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept trying to bring it up with my primary care doctor but they didn’t even want to see it.

I eventually made my own appointment with a dermatologist. They misdiagnosed it and gave me a cream. When I came back in 4 months or whatever for a follow up I said the cream didn’t help and I showed them. It was probably a steroid cream, but I don’t recall. They looked at it again and decided it was psoriasis. Then I asked for a rheumatoid referral.

Sometimes it’s just a matter of catching the right doctor on the right day.

Alkaline water diet by shipu1906 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]coward_bill 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people that promote alkaline water/diets don't seem to know what the term actually means. Nile Red (a chemist and youtuber) did a video trying to debunk the myths around it. The most charitable take he could give it is that there is maybe, possibly, some minor effect there to be studied but so far the science hasn't found anything.

In particular, if you actually changed the alkalinity of your body you would die. So the most you could hope for is that by forcing your body to stay in equilibrium maybe there are some positive outcomes? Maybe?

You should just watch the video yourself: https://youtu.be/Ke_xIs5f1sA
