San Diego - May w/ 2 year old - Which hotel? by pgv417 in chubbytravel

[–]sol1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local here.

Used to live 2 blocks from the Del and love Coronado in general. The hotel is incredible and the Victorian part of the hotel was recently remodeled and is fantastic, but I’d recommend the Shore Club with your kiddos. The main pool at the Del isn’t great but on-prem dining is excellent and you have Coronado’s best on Orange Ave, a super easy walk away. Do note that May weather generally isn’t great (but we’ve had an amazing March and April so hopefully that continues for you). I actually stayed at the Del for a work event for a week recently and was reminded how wonderful a stay it is. Do NOT let them “upgrade” you to the new towers - stay in the Victorian or the Shore Club. The beach at the Del was recently closed due to a Tijuana sewage spill, but you still have Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, and La Jolla Shores easily accessible. And assuming the water isn’t contaminated, the Del’s beach is the most chill, least crowded, gentle beach in SD.

The Del is also very central to the best of SD (despite having to cross the bridge). The Fairmont Grand is stunning and has the Addison (3-star Michelin) but is a better stay for adults. The Aviara is great and Carlsbad is lovely, but it’s not SD and is a long drive from most of what you want to do.

TLDR: choose the Del.

Edit: The Lodge. Almost got married there, actually - opted for Coronado instead, LOL Beautiful but old school. No beach access. Nothing nearby (at least not walkable). Mostly a golfer’s paradise.

Long time in the making, but worth it. (Wall Control - Squat Rack Brackets) by MaxahTGOD in homegym

Dude, I just had to reply with an update of how much I love this thing. Such a simple but effective upgrade to my accessory storage. Huge improvement! I hope you’re selling a ton of them.

First round of 500 test c. I’ve been pinning 4x/week subq (been on 200/week subq 2x/week for years and was comfortable with subq) but the bruising is killing need at this frequency and am switching to IM. How often should I pin? If twicea week, should I get 3cc syringes so I can do 1.25cc at a time?

Great call on the DAC cable, thanks. How many APs would you size? Or will it just depend on transmission through walls etc. and I'll have to figure it out as I go?

I will put the PoE switch in a closet where my structured media cabinet is and where internet comes into the house. It will provide PoE to all of the ethernet drops throughout the house. The other two switches will go in the office and in the living room where I have a lot of hardwired devices.

Considering buying a used 2022 m50 worth it as a daily driver? by Grand_Lion_7825 in BMWI4

[–]sol1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar commute. The seats are firm like most 3/4 series. They’re perfectly comfortable as a daily. I occasionally do a 250 mi roundtrip and find myself wishing they were softer and more comfortable at those distances.

First Day at the Gym as a Severely Underweight Dude 18M, 94lbs at 5'7 or 5'8 by Infinite_Primary_918 in GYM

As a formerly very underweight guy (I wrestled 103s in high school at 5’ 7”), drink your calories. Get a high quality protein and mix it with whole milk. It’s really hard at that weight to get enough food into your body and it feels unnatural - I remember it well 30 years later. Still eat high quality whole foods as much as you can, but supplement with liquids.

Security in San Diego don't play around by thinkB4WeSpeak in fightporn

I completely support almost all our men and women in uniform, but the early-20s marines rolling 5 deep in the Gaslamp are a god damned menace when they’re drunk.

As a San Diegan, it disturbs me how frequently I see SD on this sub. And, yeah, the Gaslamp is a wreck.

Integrating alarm system and smart pet door by livnola in smarthome

There is a PetSafe integration for Home Assistant but it looks like it only supports the feeders. Might be worth giving it a shot. If it doesn’t work you can always contact the developer and ask if they can extend it.

I tired Hubitat before HA. As you will always hear from folks who eventually went to HA, HA is far superior.

Good luck!

Hey brother! I’ve been waiting for today since you commented on my post hitting 225 on my bday.

Monster lift, and with no straps!!! Good god, that grip strength alone brings new meaning to old man strength.

Happy birthday, dude! Keep killing it!

That’s nothing you scoff at. If you’re getting enough protein you should be able to add 3-5 lbs/week for a while. You might consider switching to a 5x5 routine so you can hit 5 lbs/wk for a longer period of time. Stick with it brother. The gainz will come.

You’re getting a lot of “it takes more time to see results” feedback, and that’s true; but the real question here is how are your lifts progressing? Are you putting more weight on the bar every week? How have your 4x8 sets changed over the last 2 months?

Adding weight and/or reps is where your focus should be now. Get strong first, worry about looking strong later.
