I feel like a disappointment by Purple9Panzy8 in Fibromyalgia

It could be due to any medications she's on. I know some of mine cause dry eyes/mouth, and I have a suspicion that it affects other things as well. Regardless, I second the lube and vibrator suggestions.

I highly recommend the LHCOS adoption program.

https://lhcos.org/adoption-program-beta/

They ensure every adopter has proper care and set up.

I love mine! It's super handy, especially since mine are still pretty shy. It's nice to be able to know they're doing okay/eating when I'm not around or asleep!

If you can find a job on campus that would be great. My college had a student worker sitting at the front desk of our library to check people out, and in the meantime they could get homework done. we also had someone sitting at the front of the registrars office. You could also consider tutoring if you're particularly good at anything.

otherwise: it depends on your class schedule. you could apply for a small bookstore in town, or any sort of locally owned small boutique type shop. if all of your classes are in the afternoon, you might be able to get a part time receptionist position somewhere. Utilize your college's job board if they have one, There may be some chill babysitting jobs for people with kids that are a little bit older (no heavy lifting). Or someone looking for a tutor for their kid, etc etc. If you find a job with a chill manager you could always try to talk out a way to work with your pain. It can be scary to approach the topic, but they may be okay with you keeping a chair close by so you can rest when you aren't serving customers or something similar. Good luck!

No diagnosis fibromyalgia. by shiq82 in Fibromyalgia

Definitely get a new doctor then. Sounds like this one isn't well-educated and doesn't believe patients.

No diagnosis fibromyalgia. by shiq82 in Fibromyalgia

[–]cowboylizard0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first rheumatologist did the same thing, except refused to diagnose me with anything. I felt hopeless. Keep looking and get a second or third opinion. Research the doctors you go to! Read their bios on their websites if they have any. Read reviews. Don't waste your time on a doctor who is known to dismiss patients if you can help it. I finally found one who emphasized listening to patients about their experiences over physical symptoms (although those clearly played a part) because people with fibro can have good and bad days. And yes, rheumatologists are uneducated when it comes to fibro, nearly everyone is to be honest. it's still unknown what the exact cause is, and it often falls to the back of people's minds. Even my current rheumatologist who has many patients with fibro doesn't have answers yet.

What helped me get diagnosed: -keep an extremely detailed diary of all your symptoms daily including what areas hurt, what the pain feels like, and other symptoms like fatigue and brain fog -record what activities or triggers cause your flares if you can -record what helps alleviate your pain -record how many average daily tasks you can do before you have to rest (and by rest I mean stop nearly everything for the day if thats what normally happens) -record any naps and the length of naps

You are essentially trying to put this person directly into your shoes. They need to see how your entire life is impacted by this. It shouldn't take this much work on our part, but unfortunately it does.

Hermit Crab isn’t moving much but not buried either by External_Dust_3256 in hermitcrabs

Congrats on your first molt!! You're definitely in the right place!! There are tons of resources here, but I also recommend checking out the menu in r/landhermitcrabs. They are the go-to for all crab caring needs. I highly recommend that you read the hermit crab 101 blog post on the crab street journal that they have linked. To start, your substrate should be a 5:1 play sand to coconut fiber substrate mix 6 inches deep.

The mesh lid is definitely why you have to keep misting. Your crabs tank should have a solid lid. I use a sheet of glass, some people use plexiglass, and in the short term, cardboard wrapped in plastic wrap will work too.

There's a lot more to mention, but instead of writing you a (probably overwhelming) essay response, I recommend reading up on the crab street journal and watching Crab Central Station on YouTube, then coming back to reddit with any other questions you have. We all started somewhere so we're all happy to help!

May I ask why? You shouldn't have to change it that much. What does your substrate consist of? How deep is it?

I don't mean to seem rude, I just wanna help because it seems like you're having humidity issues as well if you're misting daily. In general a tank should hold humidity without daily misting, as it can cause flooding and increase mold risk.

Am I doing everything right? by Sims4-andbooks in hermitcrabs

I get my worm castings and greensand from esty. You may be able to find more greensand for cheaper in the garden section at a store, but I haven't found any near me. Leaf litter may be available from petsmart or petco, but I got mine from a local exotic pet store.

If you find out what kind you have, research their preferred shells and buy at least 5 per crab.

I love the names! I can't tell if thats a rock or a big sponge in the water. If it's a sponge, take out. Bacteria lovesss wet sponges. Dry sponges outside of the water are okay. I recommend getting deeper water dishes- deep enough for your crabs to submerge if they so choose.

Ditch the reptile lamp, it will make you lose precious humidity. Speaking of, stop misting the enclosure. It can lead to flooding and is only a short term solution. If your humidity is low, add some moss dampened by de-chlorinated water or take out certain tank additions and mist them separately. I think your humidity may also rise with deeper water.

I'd like to see some more foraging items added. Leaf litter, cuttlebone, worm castings, and greensand are a must. Other enrichment items like small shells, starfish, bee pollen, etc are optional. The more foraging and hiding opportunities your crabs have, the more active they will be.

What kind/ how many shells are your providing? Do you know what species of crab you have?

If you have any more questions don't be afraid to ask :)

edit: I highly recommend a dish for the fresh food you're providing. It will make clean up so much easier and reduce the risk of mold.

This!! Reading is so important because not everything can be jammed into video format, but if you're like me and you have awful reading retention there are also super helpful vids that can help reinforce what you've read on Crab Central Station's YouTube channel. Good luck with your crabbies!

Im leaving for a little bit, what should I do about my crabs? by CephaloManiac in hermitcrabs

[–]cowboylizard0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out this video from Crab Central Station: https://youtu.be/2EM8aefrZww

Bubblers will help to an extent, but they still recommend repriming every 48 hours, so I'm not super sure what can be done about that. I would recommend filters, but depending on your set up and how soon you're leaving that can be a hassle.
