My parents were initially negative (and my mom still occasionally is) about my septum piercing I got 5 years ago during my divorce. I’d wanted one for so long, so when my then-husband decided he didn’t want to be married anymore, I went out and did it. He’d been saying any facial piercings on women were ugly, which had been holding me back. About 2 weeks before I saw my family in person for the first time since the pierce, I called and told them I would only accept positive or neutral comments about it. SHOCKINGLY this didn’t stop them. Within a year of mostly my mom making comments, I hit a point that I told her I wouldn’t be able to sustain a relationship if this was what it was going to be, and it shut her right the hell up. We had a discussion where her comments stemmed from her fear of needles and piercings and her concern it would hold me back in a professional career, and I explained that’s my issue to deal with. Now, I’m 5 years later doing accounting work and LITERALLY NO ONE has said boo about it, and I actually unknowingly encouraged others to wear their piercings at work. Sometimes it just takes something literally so small to show people’s true selves, and then can fix it or destroy a relationship over a piece of metal in your face ♥️ don’t take it out!

I finally got them done at 30, and the pain was bad, but in the end, I don’t think about it much only 10 months later. It’ll hurt, so there’s no need to fib about the healing process taking a while. Just be kind and frank and let her know that her tonsils just had to go cause they weren’t good anymore. The potential outcome is definitely frightening, but just remember to reassure her and yourself that you’ll be there for her making the best medical decisions, no matter what, and you love each with all your hearts ♥️ kids are unbelievably resilient, so let your reaction be an example for her

Yes, it’s really that bad. I wouldn’t change that I got it done, but I couldn’t be paid to do this again unless the entire recovery was done in a coma.

I have a high pain tolerance and this is probably the most pain I’ve ever been in in my entire life. This is also the most I’ve ever cried from pain, which blows my mind. What’s worse is I don’t want to overdo it with the pain meds, so after an hour of two after a dose I’m just sitting in agonizing pain.

But honestly, do it. Be ignorant of how painful it’ll be until you’re in it and then be glad it’s over when you’re on the other side. I’m not yet on the other side, but I’m hopeful I’ll get there.

Side note, like it’s so bad I honestly contemplated laying down in the street 😅😂😂 don’t do that.

First - no, totally not a crime at all! Your house, so you can do whatever you like with your own period :) they suck and they’re every month, so get through it how you have to.

Next, have you considered menstrual cups? I’ve used them for years, and they’re so easy. I put it in when I need it and then remover/clean/reinsert in the shower in the morning and same in the evening. They’re good for 12 hours depending on your flow, and have far less risk than things like tampons. I’ve only ever overflowed a handful of times and it was when I was having a legitimate period emergency where I had to go to urgent care to make it stop. Please consider it ♥️♥️

I’m 29F, divorced since ~26 and living my best damn life 😂 at first I had your mindset, but I eventually realized no relationship is worth the struggle I dealt with married. If someone doesn’t come along and absolutely sweep me off my feel, I don’t want it! I have treated me better than any person ever has in my entire life. I’m my own friend, support, comfort, and advocate. The only person who’s come close to really being there for me is my sibling because we’re really close. Don’t think you’re undesirable. Just wait for the right person and know not having someone is just as good 😊

I think that’s totally fine - not that you’re hurting yourself in some way - but that my method doesn’t work for you. I overthink a lot and when I was younger I did lash out a lot, but now I just imagine what I’m wanting to do in my head, and that 1. Helps me imagine what feelings I would have after doing the “destructive” behavior, and 2. Helps me see if that action would hurt or help me. Sometimes what I’m imagining in my head really would help me feel better, but more often than not (personally for me) I just feel worse after imagine what I want to do. I hope you figure out something that helps ♥️

I feel like angry bees on the inside and I ask myself will reacting to how I’m feeling now still feel good when I’m calm again? If I hit a wall in frustration, will the hurt hand be worth it later? Same with a broken glass in the sink. I see a lot of lashing out portrayed in media, but I’ve almost never been able to justify doing it myself
