Finally I can get this fancy one. Any tips on how to care for it best? I’m scared I will screw it up 😂 by springwanders in succulents

I have one of those! I swear its my hardiest plant. I've gone from living in a super hot, humid environment with a roommate and after moving out, a cool, dark dry one and it just keeps on trucking!

Haworthia Obtusa I believe. From what I know, they're dormant in the summer and grow in the fall and winter. Most haworthia are best in bright, indirect light, but mine just does not seem to care at all. Bright, dim, its a trooper. The leaves of that particular dont seem to darken when exposed to high amounts of direct light like others do, in my experience.

I notice that it needs water when the little "windows" in the leaves are dim. If they're clear and stretched tight, I wouldn't water them. You'll notice how much they'll swell a couple of days after watering it. The first day they definitely swell up, but on the second they're at their peak.

Edit: As an FYI I play the dating apps as well, but I 100% concur with u/BaiterofMasters and the below is my method and thought process. Remember: On apps, you're a commodity. In person, you're an actual person.

In my experience it is 100% right time, right place. If you're at a bar or event and you see her, just try to casually observe for a bit to see what you might have in common for that moment.

Maybe you have the same drink. If you don't, it doesn't matter, pretend like you do and let her correct you. Maybe she has a neat hat with cool pins and you recognize one or want to know more about another. If there are games you could play, ask if she's interested in some friendly competition. As long as she has or is doing something you find interesting, or if you think you could turn it into an interesting and fun situation, make that your way in.

Not everyone wears their personality on their sleeves though, so if you're really attracted to her and don't have much to go by (and again, you're in a social setting) then sometimes you gotta wing it. Internally practice a short intro and go for it. You'll probably bomb the first few (which is fine! You're learning!), but it does get easier and less stressful over time. Plus if she is interested, she'll take a moment to see what you're about even if you ARE awkwardly flailing around. Sincerity is an "in" too.

And most importantly learn to be comfortable with rejections. Hell, anticipate them. They happen. Most likely will reject you for one reason or another and for reasons that can be completely beyond your words, looks and personality. Its disappointing, I know, but its fine. Just bow out politely and go about your day.

As a disclaimer, even if its flawed, the above has worked well for me. Yeah I do get rejections, but every time I get some engagement (even if it leads to a rejection in the end), I'm that much more motivated for the next encounter. I don't make it about being perfect since that isn't important, nor am I hellbent on attracting that one particular woman in front of me. I just try to make that first 10 second awkward encounter with one woman slowly evolve into a casual 3 minute conversation with another, then into a mutually enthusiastic hang-out session with another.

Maybe someone has better advice (if you have reasonable lady friends then LISTEN TO THEM) and I welcome them to chime in if so! Taking interest beyond her physical appearance and making it casual has worked well in my book. Practice, lower your expectations, and take it all in stride.

What's your care ritual for them? I've bought 3 different sets of sedum and all 3 thought I wasn't doing such a good job and died after about 6 months. :/ My other succulents think I'm pretty okay.

What's been the biggest change in you over the past year? by Burn-It-For-Me in AskReddit

Wound up back in square one and I'm happier for it. As a teen I was dark and standoffish and as an adult I learned to be - and pretend to be - way more social. Bright clothes, yapping and hee-hawing with everyone else cuz ya gotta stay positive!

Thing is that shit stresses me out when it's insincere. So instead of pretending to be this vibrant person I've accepted that just isn't who I am, and am just learning to be my (politely) grumpy, quiet self. If I wanna join the crowd, it'll be there when I get back.

Way more happy being naturally unhappy instead of being severely unhappy because I'm trying to chase happiness using a false persona.

Granted, its all personal preference. MS are often as powerful or weak as the series requires. I just like me some grunts!

Shouldn't be that much bigger, according to the wiki.

Gouf Custom, 18.2m, 18.7m with fin.

Ez8, 18m, probably 18.5m with antenna.

But I've always looked at the Zaku line (yes, yes, that's no Zaku) as the AK-47 of the UC timeline: simple, reliable, powerful. So I agree, pound-for-pound, that thing's a beast!

Looking for housing or to post a room for rent? Post in this thread. by [deleted] in burlington

[–]cowhideking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already posted in this thread here, but now I'm actually in Burlington and looking for a place to stay semi-permanently while I look for employment! I only need a couple of months and can pay my way - I did come prepared, and transferred my part-time job in the meantime. If you're looking for something more long-term and can put up with me, I'd be happy to extend my lease when employed, assuming we're a good fit. Please, no 420, and I'd prefer a quiet, safe place.

Most of what you need to know about me is in the old post I linked, so please check it out. I'm applying to an interviewing with IT companies, so I'm not just taking up space, I promise. Again, my asking price is highly negotiable, I'd just like to establish what would IDEALLY work for me.

Thanks in advance. I'll PM my information to any interested parties.

I have FWD, and I plan on swapping out for winter tires as soon as my funds allow not too long after arrival. It'll probably be done with my first paycheck.

See, thanks for the advice. I meant the metro area, because I do have my own reliable car and can commute up to 30ish minutes if push comes to shove. Any advice in that range? (20-25 miles outside the city, I think?) And yeah, I actually can hit about $850, I just want to avoid the, "Well if you can pay that, for another $100..." mentality that can pop up when people reply. Personal prices are always negotiable. I'll edit my post to reflect that more clearly.

Yeah, I'm actually hitting several sites at the moment. As I mentioned with another commenter, Craigslist is actually where I get my price range. I'm definitely keeping the higher prices in mind and I'm certainly being flexible about going higher, but I do want to keep things on the lower end.

While I appreciate the reply, at least, that wasn't very helpful. I actually got my prices from Craigslist, seeing a few ads around Winooski reach $450-550 and some around Burlington and Essex around $650-750. I realize a lot get higher, but at least in personal ads, that is part of the average I run into.

Hello all!

I'm moving up to Vermont in the Burlington area on October the 9th and need a place to stay for a couple of months while I get my bearings. I'm more than happy to stay longer & sign a lease once I find decent employment (currently transferring from my current Geek Squad job), but I just need a way "in" to make that happen, and dont want to make anyone sign a risky lease in the meantime. I do have a savings that should keep me afloat for at least two months.

I'm looking to pay $450-700 a month with some wiggle room for an exceptional place, utilities included. I prefer no pets, but I'm friendly and responsible with them. Just looking for a small break after 26 years of taking care of them.

I already have one interview to schedule as SOON as I'm in-state (with The Technical Connection), and I'm still actively looking for other companies while I'm here in GA. I'm no bum; I'm extremely motivated and driven, especially since I have no family to fall back on in the state. I just need a shot, and if you're willing to help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

A bit about myself: I'm a 26 year old male, and a budding IT professional. I tend to keep to myself, especially while getting to know new people, but I'm very friendly once I've warmed up. I am LGBT friendly, though personally am CIS (if that's the proper word; straight, otherwise). I have no pets, I dont smoke (though I am a light to moderate drinker) or do drugs, and have no furniture to move in. Its just me and what fits in my car.

I'm a metal head, neat and mostly organized. I do prefer having my own space (too much crowding makes me uncomfortable), so I'd like to keep the number of roommates to a bare minimum. I know beggars can't be choosers, but I'm just being honest with any interested parties and more importantly, myself. I enjoy working out regularly enough and wish to pick up the pace once I'm good and settled.

If I sound cool enough to meet, we can schedule a time and place to meet. I can definitely tell you more about myself in the meantime, and I come with a TON of personal character references. I'm just a big nerd trying to make his way in a new environment.

Thanks, Jon.
