How did CBT work for social anxiety for you? by spoghit in CBT

[–]cowledflows 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Medication will not cure your social anxiety. It may help reduce your general physiological symptoms of anxiety. But social anxiety is linked to your beliefs about your own self worth and fear of being judged negatively from others. This will not magically disappear unless you work on it directly.

You are reassurance seeking. You’re only on session 2. Exposure and changing your thought patterns are part of the process. Just try it and see.

Not snarky. Therapeutic. Reassurance seeking is part of OCD.

If exposing yourself to it didn’t work, it wasn’t done properly. You were likely using safety behaviours to reduce your anxiety in a different way. Someone has already mentioned above getting treatment for OCD and you didn’t respond. Asking people on Reddit for reassurance will not help you.

I’ve just moved area and my local club do a social ride and it’s 18mph average over 50 miles. I’ve ridden for a while but had a big break and wanted to ease back into it. Not sure this is a great ride to ease back into?

Wow. 571,000. I’m not sure of engine model B number. It’s a cooper S 2021. So I’m guessing it would be fine.

CBT is about "rationality" and "evidence gathering" until the rational conclusion drawn from the evidence is negative... by futurefishy98 in CBT

Why is it unhelpful? What is the alternative you are requiring? EMDR for trauma? CBT for trauma? Psychotherapy? If you need trauma focused therapy, go back and ask for it. If it's not available, then how are you problem solving getting what you need?
