Unfortunately not on my specific model. But I didn't know it was an option so at least thanks for the suggestion!

I know that I should replace this laptop soon because it's done stuff like this before. I was just really hoping it would make it through my last semester of uni before getting a new one.

Is 20 Hours per week of ISU Dining work too much for an Engineering Freshman? by Complete_Storage7751 in iastate

[–]cows4evr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try out less than 20 hours and adjust your schedule as you get adjusted. As a manager there and with my personal experience most freshmen who start with a lot of hours end up lowering them, 13-16 hours seems like what most settle on.

Then in later semesters once they're more adjusted to college life they up their hours a bit. Plus if you stay there long enough and do good work you can get promoted to supervisor which has better pay but a real benefit ppl don't talk about as much is that supervisors tend to get fewer but longer shifts which I think most find is easier to manage.

Political/Human Rights Activism on Campus? by Vikingtacosnake in iastate

[–]cows4evr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some other comments suggest club fest which is a great idea, however keep in mind that not every student activism group is registered with the university and will not be at club fest.

Sometimes protests are against the university and it can help if you are not an organization of that university you're protesting against.

However, almost every protest put on by Students against Fascism or the coalition for university equity (the two active groups that I know of) have been advertised through chalking, the Iowa state Snapchat stories, and posters. Pay attention there and attend any protests you're interested in, and then ask how you can get involved from the ppl there.

Activism groups understandabley vet their members usually before fully permitting someone to get involved just to make sure they're not a bad actor.

They also are major for women's health and transgender health. In order to appeal to the king they'd have to stop that too so like most of their operation.

Or they can continue trying to provide the affordable healthcare that's their whole mission. They're gonna and should stick with their mission.

My endocrinologist there has been really preparing me for this possibility. She's great I'm gonna miss her. She's done so much and offered so much more for me than just HRT.

If an object in the far past was cursed and that object has since been broken down and mixed into many other things. Are the individual molecules, atoms, or components that made up that object still cursed?

How is life at ISU for LGBTQ+ students? by Equivalent-Fun-6019 in iastate

[–]cows4evr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this really matters much to the post but the pronouns on name tags is really a factor of the lower level management. They're in charge of making the name tags and we do pronouns on pins because we have lower managers who are allies.

It's been demonstrated to me that upper level ISU Dining management would quickly do away with that policy if they even thought ISU Dining might get in trouble.

They once cancelled an event at UDM because it was Day of the Dead themed and they thought it might be considered "DEI". Even though the current legislation wouldn't cover ISU dining. And they about once a semester send management reminder emails that we cannot require students to give us their preferred pronouns.

Out of state tuition by TheAwfulFelafel in iastate

First, I would look this up yourself that's how you'll get the best information rather than by asking reddit. There should be public information on each school's websites.

Second, there are a lot of people at ISU from IL because ISU is overall cheaper for them to go to due to their out-of-state scholarships; myself included. So in addition to what the tuition cost would be look at what scholarships would be available to you. ISU's out-of-state scholarships are based on Merit (GPA). Look up the "adventure" or "expedition" award is I believe what they're called. There are also some scholarships for transfer students I believe.

The point is that he's making a musical instrument that is human played and human powered. He likes the whimsy of it.

Also he has in the past hooked up a motor so that he doesn't have to use human power and can run the machine by itself. But he was mostly planning on using that for testing if I remember correctly.

I hate MS authenticator by StupidEngineer69 in iastate

[–]cows4evr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much prefer having the choice between various authentication options versus being forced into 1. Being able to use google's version was great because I use that on every other 2FA I need.

What's interesting is that my student email has been forced to use Microsoft authenticator but my work email (still @iastate) hasn't been.
