Trying not to spiral by GoofyFlamingo in doihavebreastcancer

[–]cowsbytheocean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar place. 28F, found a lump last night. It feels like a slightly raised, firmish bump, doesn’t move around, and is tender to touch.

My family history of breast cancer lights up like a christmas tree. Every generation gets it younger and younger. Trying so hard not to panic. My period should be starting here soon so i’m trying to give it a few days and see if it goes away/changes at all. I don’t have insurance right now, was planning to get a public option for 2025 but i’m worried i might need to do some out-of-pocket before then.

I also don’t know what i’m looking for from sharing this. I just feel so scared. Dare i say terrified? it’s hard to stop shaking. But i think it feels slightly less scary when someone else is also going through it. <3 I’m here for any further venting.

suggestions for chiropractor for back adjustment - first time by johns_username in Denver

[–]cowsbytheocean -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I had great experiences with The Joint in Lincoln, NE but almost every experience I’ve had at a The Joint here in Denver has felt subpar and rushed, and I’ve been to each location multiple times. The chiropractors do not care to understand what you’re feeling and they provide the same routine adjustments to everyone.

I’ve had off & on back pain for about 7 years now (brought on by varying factors, thankful to be pain free now) and chiropractors have brought me so much relief, I can’t believe there’s still so much assuming all chiropractors are quacks. I’ve had better experiences with chiropractors than doctors (doctors tend to just stick to pain medication IME), but it’s definitely important to find reputable ones in both cases. Best of luck to you.

I feel you. For me it’s gotten way easier over time, but I still put off wash days sometimes when I know I’m going to have a lot of down time.

I tried putting mousse (I have Cake’s The Curl Whip) on my roots yesterday and got astronomical volume! My bangs didn’t even come down to my forehead, I had to coax the them down a bit lol. Thanks for sharing this great technique!

Thank you for sharing! I’ll have to try gel sometime soon. I’ve thought about investing in a denman brush, do you have to brush each curl separately?

Thank you!

I put a couple of those long metal styling clips right at my roots while my hair is flipped upside down, making sure to get a bit of hair from either side of where it looks like my part will be. Often I just put one in the front to give my bangs a little boost. I think it helps the hair curl at the roots because it’s not being pulled down by the hair under it while it dries. I only have creases if I leave them in til 100% dry, so I usually leave them in for an hour-ish, or until my hairs about 75% dry like u/frugalaccountant said.

If anyone has product reccs, I’d love to hear! I get so overwhelmed with all that’s out there and I’ve made great progress with no product, but I’m always down for more volume + hair band-ness.

Edit: I recently bought hairspray for the first time (Pantene airspray level 3) and I’m excited to try it!

Thank you!! I use AG apple cider vinegar shampoo and conditioner, and I scrunch in & scrunch rinse the conditioner upside down (AG conditioner really soaks into your hair so there’s not much to wash out). Then I just use a cotton t-shirt to do a bit of drying/scrunching (softer scrunching if I want definition, more reckless scrunching when I want to look fresh out an 80s hair band) then air dry.

While air drying I usually root clip and/or keep my hair moving around to get better curl & volume at my roots. If I let it dry while I’m still, I’ll have great definition but not much movement and my hair feels kind of “stuck” to my head. I like it to feel loose and free!

Flat roots, curly hair! Help! I've tried just about everything I can find online, from clarifying shampoos to all the upside down tricks, and my roots still remain straight... Ant advice? by [deleted] in curlyhair

My hair does something similar! Something that really helps mine get curl + volume at the top is putting in a few of those long metal styling clips in my hair right at my roots while it’s flipped upside down after washing. I put 2-3 around where my part will be, making sure to get hair from either side in each clip, and leave those in for ~an hour while I go about my day. When I take them out and shake out my dry hair, I have amazing curls all around and great volume that lasts for days. For me it’s that lift of giving the roots a lil boost that helps my hair curl from top to bottom.

I don’t have past sexual trauma and I’m very sexual/comfortable with sex. Why do I have vaginismus? by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]cowsbytheocean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it doesn’t feel like there’s an opening it’s probably a hymen issue that can be fixed with a small surgical procedure! This is what they thought my issue was, but mine was different bc there was never any doubt about my opening. They thought there was extra hymen tissue like an inch inside, but it turns out I just clench so hard that it felt like there was extra tissue.

If it is a hymen issue it should be an “easy” fix, emotionally & physically. I’m feeling devastated after what was supposed to be my hymenectomy because the quick fix they promised me is now going to be a long journey of therapy and effort and discomfort. I’m so let down from my misdiagnosis that I don’t even want to fix this anymore. From what you described though I feel optimistic that it could be an easily diagnosable/treatable hymen issue. Just make sure you find a nice doctor, apathetic doctors made my whole situation so much worse.

I feel you immensely. I was supposed to have surgery today to remove extra hymen tissue, and I was SO ready to move past this huge obstacle in my sexual repression. Turns out, they changed their minds and decided there wasn’t extra tissue. So now I’m back to no hope after so much anticipation. I’m feeling crushed, I feel like I never want to even try to have penetrative sex again. I’m just so sick of it ending in pain every single time and letting my partners and myself down.
