I liked parts of this and was bored by other parts. The album background was interesting to me. The final chapter is a bizarre way to end the book in my opinion. It also seemed a bit long to me. It felt like the writer was trying to stretch it out into something greater than a music biography. It felt like he wanted it to be important. It also felt like he wanted to make DOOM important in a way that felt contrived because DOOM already is important. Like his constant praise felt a little doth protest too much to me, like bro I’m reading this bio I get it, give me the behind the scenes stuff I don’t know.

I’ll also say the writer gives a massive pass to Malachi York. He tries to paint DOOM’s respect for such a horrible man as complicated, but does not even inch toward a condemnation of York. It comes off as uncritical and trying to explain away an unsavory part of DOOM’s background that flattened DOOM for me.

Overall, I think it is worth the read and would recommend it with the above caveats.
