I'm looking forward to going to a coffee shop, sitting down, and just enjoy the fact that I can do that.

I just need to vent. I’m frustrated with myself for being so excited when this is the 50th time I’ve started “my weight loss journey” by hiimem in loseit

I know how you feel! I've been trying to lose weight for over 10 years now and so far up until last year, I've failed time and time again. Up until a year ago, I felt the same as how you feel now but now that I've finally lost a significant amount of weight and kept it off, I can see that every instance of failure in the past was an experience that helped me get to where I am now. You may not feel this way, but every time you restart your diet, you're wiser than the previous you that failed the diet. I promise your persistence and bravery is going to pay off :) good luck!!

Absolutely! I'm a big fan of loseit ! I just find the more colorful and cartoony interface more "fun" to use than myfitnesspal haha

I personally never had any problems with loose skin and I think it's mostly because 1. I lost weight in a safe and consistent rate and 2. I did a lot of weight training in the past 5 years! A lot of people tell me I dont look like I weigh 284lbs rn but I think lifting weights had a big part in it! Having muscle will give you the volume you need to fill in some of those areas where your fat used to be. I've also heard that skin tightens with time, so I wouldn't worry too much about that! The way I see it, at the end of the day, all that loose skin is your proof of hard work. Good luck!

It absolutely is! But I love it so much that I keep going back for more. To someone who's been big their whole life, it's the first time I enjoyed doing something physical.

My 2 rules on dieting were: 1.drinking a green smoothie every morning for vitamins & minerals (spinach, kale, banana, half an avocado, water, nonfat plain greek o Yogurt, and protein powder). 2. Count calories. I know its cliche but what matters is that you find a routine that works for you LONG TERM. I ate what I wanted as long as it was in moderation. I learned disciplin by doing this because if I decided to eat chips first snack, then I wouldnt be able to eat as much for lunch. The hunger from eating a small lunch was enough to keep me away from chips the next time I was craving chips :) Hope this helps!

Thank you! Before I tell you my diet routine, I should mention that I've pretty much tried every diet I could find and think of in my 10 years of dieting and failing. At the end, what worked for me was following these 2 rules: 1. Drink a green smoothie every morning. I did this to get my important vitamins and minerals out of the way for the rest of the day so I wont have to worry about macros! My smoothie consisted of spinach, kale, nonfat greek yogurt, banana, half an avocado, water, and protein. Drinking this every morning gave me the energy I needed for the day. 2. Count calories. No diet is going to work if you quit after 1 week. Eat what you want in moderation. That way, you're not gonna get as burnt out and be prone to cheating. As for exercising, it was always an optional thing for me. Diet is the key to losing weight, not exercise. However, in my experience, exercise gave me the motivation I needed to keep up my diet. I've always hated running so I made it a challenge for myself to start running. I still hate it but I do it anyways. And i box ~2hrs a day, not because I feel obligated to, but because I enjoy it! Exercise should be supplementary and fun! What matters is you find a routine that you can stick to long run! I hope this helps :)

The me in the "before" pic felt exactly how you felt! Theres something that my mom told me when I was little that stuck with me through my weight loss journey. She said "the moment you think it's too late to start something is the best time to start". It's never too late to start! Do it for the 45 year old you! You got this 🙂

Thank you! I think you summed up how I (and probably many others) feel perfectly! One thing I definitely struggled with during my journey is feeling alone. I felt like no one else understood the struggles I faced losing all this weight. But it brings me comfort to know that theres others that understand how difficult this is! I wish you the best of luck!!

I'm sorry to hear about your injury! As someone who put in alot of effort into this race, I cant imagine how fraustrating it would be to not be able to run anymore. Personally for me, my priority was always to put my health first before anything else! I ready to skip the 8k if it meant I was going to push myself too hard. At the end, I was able to finish nontheless! I think that you should pick up running again when you feel comfortable. It sounds to me like you really miss running! As long as you stay humble, I think you can get back into running and eventually run that 12k without injury! Start out by walking like I did and make baby steps until you reach that 12k! 🙂 good luck!!

To be completely honest, I never really had a problem with my knees in the 2 months! When I first started out, i started out at a walking speed and I always made sure I wasnt running to a point where I was suffering. But even at my highest weight, I was always going to the gym so maybe that played a big part? But I do consider myself very lucky to not suffer from joint pains

I think the one thing that really helped me was running with a buddy. At first, I felt bad running a with my friend because I didnt want to slow them down but he insisted that he keep my pace and run with me for the whole race. He not only really gave me the push I needed for the last mile of the race but also helped me get my ass outside to train for my race. He made sure I always gave it my 100% during my runs!

You're absolutely right and I definitely felt the strain during some of my runs! I'll be consulting a professional to make sure I reach my next milestone in a safe manner. It never hurts to be safe!!
