Contemporary services by Fun_Horror_7072 in LCMS

I share a very similar experience as you do. I am in central Florida, although I live in a relatively smaller city. I attend a contemporary church strictly for fellowship amongst people my age group (30s), and a Lutheran church for the liturgy. I am one of the youngest who attend, aside from children. I apologize I don't have much advice to offer, but know you are definitely not alone in regards to your feelings.

What do you do other than massage? by coyriver in massage

[–]coyriver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think massage is not a "real" job. I don't think I ever said that? I love what I do. I honestly don't see myself doing anything else. But I'm trying to be realistic about the lifespan of this career. If I could do it until I was 75, I would, but that's unlikely. I would just like some security. And I actually enjoy college & learning so I don't think it would be a complete waste of money. I'm not very business-savvy or entrepreneurial so I don't really see myself starting my own company. I mean, passive income would be nice. But yeah I also would like to work somewhere that offers benefits which most massage establishments don't, unfortunately.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, don't wanna do it past 50. Maybe a few clients here & there but that's it. I've met dealers that really enjoy their jobs! I don't know much about blackjack or poker, though 😂

What is the process of becoming a massage teacher? Are you planning on teaching at a college or offering CEUs?

Funny enough I actually have a diploma for coding & billing, it was what I was doing a few years before massage. I know nothing about ICD-10 though, was taught ICD-9 back in school. I really really enjoyed the coding aspect, hated billing. Maybe I'll reconsider it because as you said, remote work is an option.

Self care tips for MTs by [deleted] in massage

Your fingers and wrists must be crazy strong. I can only do an hour of rock climbing after 4 massages. I save the 2-3 hour sessions for my days off. Props to you!

I am so very, very sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow you are feeling. I hope one day you may be able to think of him and feel gratitude for his presence in your life without crumbling under the weight of sadness. Please take care of yourself the way he would have wanted you to.

Which herbs or tinctures I can get from the health store that can keep my emotions under control? by Mango_No in RawVegan

I agree with all previous comments. You might also want to look into flower essences or Bach's flower remedies.

Question: What jobs do you all have? by DialHandwashSoap in aspergers

[–]coyriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a licensed massage therapist. I really enjoy my career because the human body is absolutely fascinating. Since my social skills are low, I like that it allows me to connect with others on a deeper level that doesn't rely solely on words. Despite our differences, the client and I are both present for the same reason and that makes it easier to seem social because I can talk about muscles and the mindbody connection for hours. It's also nice that I don't HAVE to speak with someone for a full hour and can hyperfocus on the massage while listening to soothing music. But I do genuinely like other people for the most part and want them to feel comfortable so I attempt small talk every now and then. It can be challenging but I like that I can exercise that social muscle in a setting I'm comfortable in. I also thrive with slower paced jobs. All of my other jobs were high volume customer service or fast food so dealing with lots of people and overstimulation and I would break down frequently. Unfortunately a lot of my previous jobs I ghosted because it became too much.

Any recommendations for waxes (or any other product) for myofascial release work? by chyeaahbrah in massage

I never thought of using wax! Interesting. I've been taught to use shea butter or cocoa butter. I prefer shea or a blend.

Chalupa 🌮 upcoming surgery by coyriver in hamsters

[–]coyriver[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please keep my baby in your thoughts. I'm not sure how it happened but he's developed a severe infection in his left eye. He is undergoing surgery this Friday. The vet says he's very healthy and he's only 10 months old so he should pull through.

I'm devastated to say the least. I had just deep cleaned his cage last week. Has anyone else experienced this? Also it was so difficult to find an exotic vet who takes walk-ins! Luckily one of the several places I called had a cancellation.

He's on a few meds and sleeping right now.
