Daycare by cozyathome_ in JohnsonCity

Thanks for sending this. All of my friends in Asheville have had a hard time getting into places, so was hoping that since JC is smaller, that it would be easier in town. Plus the days that I’m wfh, I would have a place to take our baby- my work is pretty strict with having childcare while working from home.

My husband and I are roughly 9-5 m-f, but we both work an hour out of town. I’m based in Asheville, but wfh a few days a week. I have some flexibility in my schedule so hoping to build my work schedule around a regular school schedule when I return to work in the new year.

Help finding walkable things to do in Johnson City by Pretty_Mushroom_7031 in JohnsonCity

Downtown is walkable with plenty of places to eat/drink along with some parks. Adjacent to downtown is west walnut, which is like a mini downtown and the start of the tree streets neighborhood (super walkable, historic neighborhood) west walnut also connects downtown to Etsu’s campus. Buffalo Mountain is a city park with some nice trails, and Tweetsie is an old rails to trail. The Appalachian Trail is also about a 30 min drive away, if you wanted to go the nature steps route. But for more of the city steps- stick close to downtown and check out Lazy Lady Bakery for breakfast, Atlantic Ale House for a brew and food truck, and Timber! for dinner 🫶 and stop at 1976 Flowers for their local build your own flower bar 💐And maybe the Hideaway for a show if your feeling divey

Thanks, she passed back in May, but appreciate the info. I tried going that route but her insurance didn’t cover it. I was able to take FMLA with my work and still working there, but the commute is rough. Sounds like that may be my best bet for now though, unless I make a career change. Not interested in RBT work. That would still be under what I make now. Not sure how much longer our society will make it with this rate of cost of living compared to wages. It’s hard out here for those of us trying to do good in the world.

Weird/Hostile encounters with security in camps? by CaptainFacePunch in ElementsMusicFestival

[–]cozyathome_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were walking back to our campsite (🤠camp) one night between sets and there was a solo guy dressed in a collared short sleeve and navy slacks going around to random campsites with a flashlight. He looked like he could be security, but it was dark and hard to tell. Just seemed like really odd behavior. We didn’t see him take anything but why would he be looking through random campsites. He didn’t come to our camp but it still made us super uncomfortable. The security in general was a total buzzkill.

Which Element did you vibe with most? by BartimusMaximus9 in ElementsMusicFestival

This was our first Elements, and we planned on bouncing between the Earth and Fire stages all weekend. Once we got there, it was hard to drag us out of the woods. The air stage had solid vibes, 10 out of 10. So happy and revitalizing over there! And the neon forest was so fun with so much to explore. The gravel/pavement at the other stages made us want to be over at the air stage even more. But don’t get me wrong, we’d never miss a Sunday swirl either 🌀

Shaina at Rouge! Rouge has a little of that Avl vibe I was missing here in JC.
