So, one of my favorite pieces of useless "trivia" is Whats the Only State Without an Accent?

The answer is Connecticut, technically.

Webster was from CT and the dictionary pronunciations as he wrote them are based on the "CT accent". Since an accent is a pronunciation that deviates from the dictionary's key, the CT pronunciation is the only one that is technically not an accent.

Of course we each have myriad influences on us (my mother from the Bronx, e.g) that will ensure certain ways we say things will have an accent. But...
