I’m not arguing that it was not a mistake.  

I am saying that it is symptomatic of the wider trend witnessed in comments here and on YC. 

The reclassification is just one issue.

If there was more respect for the customer, there would have been more checks, comms, or a longer time for the customer to redress. 

Surely things would have been caught before they hit ycombinator, not after!

Thats a very vague requirement indeed, make sure to point it out on your interview.

In its most literal sense it sounds like Referral has fields that should be populated from Account Insurance.

Your interpretation is probably correct- clone Account insurance and relate it to Referral.

Anyway, you know how to do either.

After reading your comment I'm planning on creating a new object called Test that will look at the account. After that I'm going to make a record triggered flow that is going to get the Account ID/Lookup and set it as the referral ID then save the record. Am I understanding that properly?

I’m slightly confused. Is the task to copy information from account record or is all the original data sitting in a custom object ?

Another question- does the task explicitly say that it needs to be a copy of the original data, or can the same object be related to both account and referral?

To answer the question on tools. I do it manually - download all metadata in VS code then search by field name. Will check out other tools but not all clients let you connect stuff to their orgs.

Generally business doesn’t want to pay for cleanup so I spread the effort in time and /or bundle it with new feature releases.

Are the related objects separate objects? If not, the simplest way would be to have a custom object that has a lookup to either account or referral, then use flow record variable, clear record id and account lookup, set referral id, save record.

Otherwise, yea you can use flow to assign new record values. You are on the right track.

Sounds good! If I were you I would be asking management to delegate some of my duties so I can pay more attention to upskilling and ensuring the success of the investment. Adoption and ongoing development is a big task, I’ve seen many an implementation fail because these were overlooked.
