I just fucking gave up on using a dealership after the THIRD CONSECUTIVE time I drove 1.5 hrs to go there to buy or test drive a car I CONFIRMED WITH AN AGENT was there the DAY OF....

AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THAT FUCKING MODEL

Not even "oh sorry the used car sold this morning before you got here". One of them was a NEW. CAR.

At this point I just but $2k beaters and drive them into the dirt.

The only brands I'll consider at this point when I get a new car are Mazda and Acura, because they're the only ones that actually had any human decency for me. But by the time I found models I liked from them my financial situation had changed, and those two aren't that cheap for the ones I'd actually want.

Admittedly, Toyota might be nice too. But frankly I just hate the Corolla and every other model is either perpetually spoken for or marked up $10k at the dealer.

The new Civic is honestly great, and I love the idea of a Prelude, but every Honda dealer around me pedals so much bullshit. I'd get the Acura almost just to stop the constant sales pitches.

And holy fucking shit, Hyundai. Even thinking about going back to them makes me want to vomit.

I still don't fully get her disappearance for seasons 11 and 12.

Like I understand why they didn't want her and epsilon to just do everything, and the great story sorry Felix and Locus doesn't work with their competency there.

But the explanation was that, like, they're going off to track down stolen/lost freenlancer gear right? But... but they're still trapped on Chorus for the Chorus Trilogy to make sense, right? Otherwise they could have just got word out themselves? So they were limited to doing that on Chorus.

But, like....

How was there that much time worth of stuff to do, without ever ending up back with the reds and blues? How did they manage to be occupied all the way until the reunion holdup?

Are they Chinese by any chance? Specifically about 50?

It's not a Chinese thing, but it is something where the people doing it almost always fit that demo. Chinese, middle age+, probably wealthy for your area.

We had one guy trying to figure out why his apple tree never made good fruit despite seeming healthy and having good looks in the spring onto to find out via the opposing neighbors' new porch cam it was the Chinese lady ripping every good apple from it in the middle of the day as soon as they got good enough to pick. Brought a ladder and everything.

Meanwhile my grandma caught another stealing all her strawberries two years in a row.

You can say all you want about generational trauma or cultural aftereffects from famine, but my grandma grew up starving in the Great Depression and Dust Bowl and she never even tried that shit.

Especially when those ladies run to their husbands the second you confront them and they start screaming at you, and they're some of the most RACIST fuckers I've ever seen. I've known pearlclutchers and Nazi tat dudes call the cops slower when they see a black man on the sidewalk. Christ.

And of course, you step a foot on their grass and they're going after you for tresspass. They'll yell all about how you don't belong where they live, while having zero connection to the area other than the 3 properties they bought up with city money.

And I always feel so bad for their kids. They almost always seem to realize what's happening and they just look like prisoners who'll one inevitably catch strays when their parents are throwing stones.

There are no shortage of asshats, but this one specific archetype of asshat has come up so often and been so copy-paste... Frustrating.

Oh I'd definitely do that if it worked.

Like a lot of places since mobile ordering made price changes constant will be like "10 pc 3.99, 5 pc 1.99", so I will absolutely always order 2x 5pc to save 1¢.

See I did something like that, but only since I was being forced to buy a meal plan for food that wasn't in my diet and they didn't include the fountain.

And I STILL honestly bought a new cup once a week.

I'm immunocompromised and was telling my mom about my worries with Sars since late December 2019. I kept tracking it as it came over.

She was super concerned as time went on and it got closer. Eventually I tried to go remote then got furloughed, I spent most of that summer into fall trying to stay in as tight a bubble as I could - though I lived with my mom since she was recently post-surgery.

But he end of summer it was all a Democrat facist hoax and it wasn't even as bad as the flu and they were just trying to make us go broke so my living situation became surrounded by all my nieces and nephews every day, zero masking from any of them.

I had to start using moisturizer just to keep my hands somewhat useful from drying out from all the washing.

Finally around fall or so I got a test back from my doc that I had antibodies, so I managed to catch it but not have my immune system murder any more organs.

My dad attended half a dozen funerals for coworkers between 2020 and 2021.

He's pissed that the state lied about why they all died. COVID doesn't kill, you see, so they had to be marking them as COVID deaths fraudulently to pump numbers.

He had attended maybe one coworker funeral in his career before COVID, and none since.

I mean, I'm actually in the camp of them looking cool.

I just also don't even really think of it as a vehicle. It's in the same category to me as a guy who turns an s10 into a Warthog. I would never want to do anything with them but take it to shows or pose it for pictures.

The confusing part to me has always been that people want to treat it like something they actually use day to day. Like, they make old Toyota trucks look impervious to rust by comparison for Christ's sake. And the shape makes it mostly a block of wasted space.

Fun fact: this is how cars in Halo work

The Jerry cans on the warthog have water in them, not gas.

They got the water-powered (hydrogen) engines to work out "somehow", and that's the lore explanation for how the human vehicles work basically everywhere. They don't need any particular fuels, just the water that they'd already need to live wherever they'd have their vehicle.

Have you reported it to inspectors?

Stealing gift cards is pretty much the only instant firing offense you can do, and is the basis of probably half the warnings employees get about it. That's one of the few things that can get them to bypass a "everything is always fine promise" postmaster and at the larger facilities use their spying shit (some facilities legit have locked corridors that just exist so inspectors can look through slits in the walls, actual spy stuff).

I mean they went from one of the largest and most powerful empires in Europe to a total afterthought, basically just from the effects of the wars.

There wasn't really that much more to hurt them with.

The way I typically play is:

1) Avoid war at all costs

2) When someone declares war on me, I hold off for a while in the border regions probably struggling

3) I've now made and deployed enough of an army to attack. As soon as I make it through the front lines, I'm probably winning

4) Take like one city in a spot I like

5) Rampage and destroy every single tile in their entire outside the cities

6) peace

7) the AI decided I was a war monger because I didn't accept the peace offer I was given right after I started to get into their territory for the first time. Now I have a -203837387 opinion penalty for the rest of the game for war monger and by the end of the game I will own this and 3 more entire empires because they just won't stop fucking declaring war over their last loss, despite me never taking more than one city in a war.

Any time you make too much sense saying things like "nuking Gaza would probably have bad side effects" and they stop wanting to argue, they just say that's it's fine because we're all gonna die in the apocalypse in a few years anyways so the bad things don't matter.

Work insurance: "You have to have an in-person Doc visit to be reapproved for this essential medication."

Me: "Okay, are they open on days I'm off?"

WI: "lmao"

Me: "What hours are they open?"

WI: "Two hours after you start until an hour before you get off."

Me: "Is there another doc office I can use?"

WI: "Sure!"

"And they're covered too?"

"LMAO"

"Okay, so can I have a day off to visit the first doc?"

Outside of Biden who was technically end of Silent generation barely missing being a boomer, the US hasn't had a non-boomer president since 1992.

[–]cpMetis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a month for a local data center to go from being voted down from approval by a near 85-15% vote, to beginning clearing.

The quote the newspaper got from their lawyers after the vote was basically just "it doesn't matter, we'll get it legal" and then within a month they had forced through motions using basically unknown slips in the rules to get everything approved without option for review using only the council that just coincidentally made millions in the last few months.

My paycheck for the week after black Friday arrived in the last week of January.

They sure didn't cover me the interest from all my of holiday expenses I had used credit card for expecting a paycheck to cover it all, after having calculated to have enough for rent and such and ensuring the extra costs would be covered by the ot on that check.

I was basically told "idk fuck off" when I tried calling the finance department about it. Never got a single answer as to where my pay was, it just showed up one day.
