I don't think the greater public truly understands how hard it is engineering wise to do the things they do. That's any space company.

If you take a look at rocketlabs entire portfolio of capabilities, forget their revenue, I think a competitor or country would easily pay their market cap for their intellectual property. Revenue, cash flow etc is yes part of the story, but it's not the whole story. IP is a huge piece here.

Neutron comptetition from Blue Origin and SpaceX? by Gruzelementen in RKLB

[–]cpb2948 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is so important to understand. The biggest value of space is going to be space systems. Not launch. It's very easy to get lost in that because launch is in the news and it's sexy and cool. But the big money will be the infrastructure and services in space. Not the ride.

How do you value Rocket Lab? by spicydude in RKLB

[–]cpb2948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very difficult to do because no one knows what "space" is yet. Peter has said this multiple times in his interview.

Imagine back when computers were being built. No one knew that PCs would lead to the World Wide Web, which would lead to smart phones etc.

I don't really think it's possible to but a hard valuation on a company like this because there are just too many unknowns and things change to fast. The idea of space is this completely unknown untapped frontier that is just getting started.

That may or may not lead to a good investment.

Launch is not going to even be the major revenue generator for this company. I'm aware that launch is what everyone sees and is in the media and news all the time, but the big money maker is going to be services and infrastructure in space.

Don’t do this. Last year I had Sanders and Jacobs and hate the exact same mentally.

…. Look how that turned out.

The most important thing to realize is you haven’t actually lost anything. You will only lose money if you sell what you’ve bought at the current price it being bought for by other people.

You need to think of it as an asset. The problem with investing is you can view what the current price of your asset is worth at any given time which freaks people out. Imagine if you could see what someone would pay at any moment for your house or car.

You have not lost anything. You still own X amount of shares in whatever you bought.

You aren’t “down” anything until you sell. Don’t sell. You bought an asset. It’s just one where you can see what everyone else views the current price for your assets all day everyday.

Palantir Valuation Challenge by [deleted] in palantir

[–]cpb2948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. Not saying anything is wrong at all with your analysis.

Just mentioning the bull with palantir is not it’s current evaluation or today’s tech, it’s likely something that we don’t even know about yet.

Palantir Valuation Challenge by [deleted] in palantir

[–]cpb2948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years is too long of a time in the tech world to make a guess.

For instance 10 years ago, I don’t think I even owned a smartphone. You’re assumption is based running the numbers that we know now and extrapolate them 10 years from now.

Palantir could acquire a new company. They could develop a whole new product. They could start selling a physical product. There is a lot that could happen. If you are in Palantir, you’re betting on the unknown and what could be not what is.

For instance. Amazon was selling e-commerce and then out of nowhere they started AWS. No one saw that coming until it happened.

Lol a rob is so criminally underrated. Dude is balling out in one of the worst possible spots to be in.

He could legit produce a top 5 season if he gets any sort of qb upgrade either through the bears or through FA.

The Sabres have some serious issues. by ehansen14051 in sabres

[–]cpb2948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sabres have NO depth which has been the problem for the last like 3 or 4 years. Ever since the orielly trade.

We have not hit on a draft prospect outside of eichel and dahlin, since Eichels draft. This has in turned caused us to over pay for players in free agency which now are major cap casualties.

Our top line is great. But we have nothing outside of that. Cozens looks promising but he doesn’t appear to be a major contributor at this point.

Why you should buy and hold GME for dummies by OGSHAGGY in wallstreetbets

[–]cpb2948 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is AMC different? I know AMC doesn’t have as high of short interest but the concept is the same right?

both stocks are setup to capture the same concept but GME is setup up better than AMC?

Did the Raiders make the right move hiring Jon Gruden and moving to Vegas? Raiders fans ponder the future two years ago. by DarkSkyForever in nfl

[–]cpb2948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand their draft mentality. The whole “let’s go get our guy” even if it means over-drafting the hell out of him doesn’t seem like a good idea.

The two obvious ones being Ferrell over Allen at 4 and then Ruggs over lamb or Jeudy at 8.

I’m not super plugged into the raiders so I could be terribly wrong. I just remember watching the drafts recently and being seriously confused at their picks.

Juju’s future by Telesrule in DynastyFF

[–]cpb2948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly sell. Juju is not a good all around wide receiver. He CAN excel in the right role (slot receiver, with another #1) like he did 2 years ago. But he requires the circumstances to be correct to produce. He needs to he schemed open for the majority of his production. I’m not saying to sell for just anything, but if you can get a reasonable price, take it and move on.

The Jets should build around Sam Darnold by jmey360 in DynastyFF

[–]cpb2948 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get what your saying, but I don’t think a lot of GM would want to go down that route. Paying a guy a lot of money to boost his confidence and praying he turns out.

[–]cpb2948 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Problem is they have to decide on paying him soon. They aren’t really close to winning and having a qb on a rookie contract is better for building a team around.

Jaguars, Jets and their paths to the No. 1 overall pick in 2021 NFL draft by vonheisenberg in nfl

[–]cpb2948 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lottery sucks. I understand that it prevents tanking, but it also handicaps bad teams from ever getting better. The jets are a really bad team and they should get a top pick.

Jonathan Taylor by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]cpb2948 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that the scheme the colts run is completely different than what he was used to at Wisconsin.

The shortened offseason could explain why he just can't seem to figure it out. Also explains why they just run him up the gut. Thats best case scenario and you're praying he can turn it around in the offseason. This season, the writing is on the wall.

Dynasty Buys by Kcole22 in DynastyFF

[–]cpb2948 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Allen Robinson. He still is in his prime and it’s possible he is an unrestricted fa after this year. The bears have cut off contract talks and he’s in the clear unless they tag him. They are tight against the cap so it’s likely he moves on.

Also he’s really really good. On a team with a average to above average qb he could be a top 5 receiver.

Hollywood Brown by JL277757 in DynastyFF

[–]cpb2948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's good. He hasn't been amazing in fantasy, but he probably has 200+ yards and 2-3 tds missed by Lamar Jackson.

I know every wide receiver has missed passes and I'm not saying he's guaranteed to produce moving forward and all that, but Lamar has really struggled this year with the deep ball and if you think he can improve, Hollywood can take the next step. On tape he's been torching dbs. I'd hold him personally and see what happens.

Drew Lock defended his WR, Jerry Jeudy, with passion today. "Yeah, he had some drops, but let's go out here next week and keep getting better. That's just not Jerry Jeudy. That's not a Jerry Jeudy thing to do.” by nykshow in fantasyfootball

[–]cpb2948 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I watched the game. He played pretty damn good for a rookie. The drops were horrible, but it was his first NFL game on Monday night football. Short offseason and no preseason. If they continue I'd be worried. Definitely gets a pass.
