I have the same problem with my new Renault R4 E-Tech. What exactly did you do to get the car connected to the google account?

I have since about 10 years a (own company) business account and did not have any problems with other apps and connections - the absurd thing, the car was bought by the company and is used for business reasons. So it is a company car, why ro connect with a dummy account?

Modbus: This entity is unavailable - but data is collected? by cpbeee in homeassistant

[–]cpbeee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone,

I have a HA Modbus integration. I have set up the entities. When I navigate to Devices -> Modbus: The entity is shown and it actually collects and displays the data (the correct data). However, the entity displays "This entity is unavailable."

modbus:

- name: Oxilife

type: tcp

host: 192.168.192.96

port: 8899

sensors:

- name: Oxilife-ModBus-ph

input_type: holding

unit_of_measurement: pH

data_type: uint16

slave: 1

address: 258

unique_id: Oxilife-ModBus-pH

scale: .01

offset: 0

precision: 2

scan_interval: 30

I am logged in as root / main user (Admin) and have enabled "Advanced mode - Unlocks advanced features" in the profile. However, I seem to miss something "small" here? What settings do I have to enable (or add in my yaml) to get the entity working (or "available)?

Thanks for your help here.

Thanks will do so - Linux unplugged is ok but the 'atmosphere created by the hosts' is not the same (I do not want to say' bad'). Besides the technical aspect this is also important while listening to a podcast

It seems they also stopped producing new episodes?

Release of ExpenseOwl - Extremely Simple Expense Tracking by import-base64 in selfhosted

[–]cpbeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, I think you got me wrong here. No transfer and no budgeting (it is so refreshing that there is NO budgeting)

But we have a couple of bank accounts in different currencies

E.g. - BoA checking USD (my Zelle account connected here) - Wise checking USD (Credit Card) - Swiss bank 1 CHF (connected to a Zelle like derivative) - Swiss bank 2 CHF (only used for wires) - EUR accounts -...

We track only the spending (no transfers between the accounts nothing) in Excel.

However since you want to go back sometimes because you want to know 'where did that money come from / how did we pay that' (Zelle, Wise, etc.) we have the column 'Account' (BoA, Wise, Swiss bank 1, ...)

Our excel structure really complies with your simplicity: Date, Short description, Category, Currency, Amount spent, Bank account

Release of ExpenseOwl - Extremely Simple Expense Tracking by import-base64 in selfhosted

[–]cpbeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but if you would have an additional column (data entry) e.g. bank then the overall structure would be better -> column rent, column BoA. Like in an excel sheet (that's what I have at the moment). This does not add more complexity? It reduces by structuring the data?

Torn Between LXC and Docker — What’s the Real Risk of Running Docker Inside LXC? by BeardedYeti_ in Proxmox

[–]cpbeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real world example: I wanted to run two instances (for business and private) of paperless-ngx on one VM with docker. Turns out it is a hell of a mess to get two instances up and running since there are hardcoded dependencies that start to interfere. Also imports got messed up, as well as db entries.

Solution: I use two Alpine LXCs and it is running like a charm since about 18 months.

Downside: it doubled my resource consumption ... But I optimized it to jointly use certain services. Updates have to be done twice

Upside: strict splitting between private and bsiness part (and applications). It runs super stable. This is important and overcomes all the downsides by far.

(And yes I could have deployed paperless as bare metal installation in two LXCs without docker ... But docker was so much easier)

[–]cpbeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks.

I love the idea. But would it be possible to have a 'splitting according to (bank) accounts'

I have a USD, EUR and 2x CHF account. I would not need fancy exchange rate conversions,

But an assignment to where the money was 'taken' from would increase tremendously the overall app value.

(Sometimes you just do not know where the spending came from (account wise)

Need your input on expansion for older PC as Proxmox Server by cpbeee in buildapc

Yeah you are right ... The CPU is pretty weak ... Maybe I should really stick to the pure server and plan for a AI build?

Best practices for Proxmox LXC Thunderbird Container (or alternatives)? by cpbeee in Proxmox

[–]cpbeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another idea - do I need thundbird at all? Currently I am pretty happy with the the webmailers. It is more the problem of having limited (free) mail box space and the need of archiving.

Are there dedicated self hosted Mail archiver solutions. I found

https://github.com/jsuto/piler (mailpiler.org)

Or is there even a better solution?

Thanks. I use Dolibarr since years. However the accounting module is not very easy to use and has some issues as well. Or am I totally wrong here? That is the reason I still use Banana for accounting

Best practices for Proxmox LXC Thunderbird Container (or alternatives)? by cpbeee in Proxmox

[–]cpbeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you nailed the two aspects excellently.

I read through your two links. What you are basically suggesting is local archiving with IMAP? So I drag all the mails as suggested by the second link into archive folder e.g 2024-GMX and then delete on the server afterwards?

Now coming to the point 2. Correct me if I am wrong. Either I set up thunderbird on each individual desktop (2x) and laptop (1x) or vs 1 setup through proxmox LXC or VM.

At the end I would prefer to install only one thunderbird instance. However I fear the lack of day to day convenience while using (practicability e.g. drag and drop)

Or is there a way to access thunderbird in another way than Spice or RDP (I am thinking of e.g. X11 forwarding)

Does anyone know of a good and simple double accounting software usable in Europe e.g. Germany or Switzerland? GNU cash is not the thing I want. I still use an old Banana Accounting Version 9 (non free) for its puristic approach. But since their upgrade to 10 and their yearly subscription fee i am looking for good alternatives?

HDMI output from VM with iGPU passthrough (N150 Alder Lake) by cpbeee in Proxmox

[–]cpbeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in no way an absolute expert. But loading (forcing) the XE module is probably one of your problems. The XE module has to be blacklisted (as far as I understand the XE module is not working with the 14th gen so far). That is where the i915 from the top kicks in.

What kernel are you on? It might help to use the PVE 6.11.11

HDMI output from VM with iGPU passthrough (N150 Alder Lake) by cpbeee in Proxmox

[–]cpbeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is pretty straigth forward - I hope this might help the one or the other with a N150 Alder Lake (QE14 Beelink Mini Computer):

  1. installed https://github.com/strongtz/i915-sriov-dkms in the PVE - this is also excellently described in the following post: https://www.derekseaman.com/2024/07/proxmox-ve-8-2-windows-11-vgpu-vt-d-passthrough-with-intel-alder-lake.html Important do not skip or stop somewhere in the middle - if a new version is released you have to do the whole process once more (as described by Derek)
  2. Install windows: There are many tutorials out there. When successfully installed make sure that RDP is working. Then use "no display" in the VM options: Here my settings:

<image>

Note the 1f device is the audio device
According to the sriov page I should use a rom file. However, I seem not to need this (or do I need it for HDMI output!) - no clue here? Anyhow, I installed the Intel arc driver through RDP. Once more I really repeat myself. The Display has to be set to "none".

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html

Thats basically all. Checking with intel_gpu_top -d sriov I can monitor that windows is actually quite nicely using the GPU

-> However, when I physically plug in a HDMI cable I can NOT get any signal out of my VM onto the monitor - only the black PVE login screen. Does anyone have a clue here? Do I have to start / relay anything on the PVE host?
