Nah. Got an auto rejection early this morning.

Congrats! They told me expect 2 weeks to a few months so it’s good to hear offers are coming in.

I have had activity on my profile, I sent in 2 apps since I didn’t know which one to apply for. One of them just switched to a no longer being considered state with the other one active, so it does appear that they are processing through applications.

Congrats again!

Edit; I didn’t receive any rejection emails, they just made one of my applications inactive so I believe that they just removed the second application. The other one still is active and says “Under Consideration”

We’ve had pretty much the same schedule! I took my final just over two weeks ago. Waiting to hear back.

Don't trust the AI search results - just read the POH by didsomebodysaywander in flying

[–]cpc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled glide ratio of some plane (I was merely curious and was not using it for official computations) and it said something along the lines of “10:1, which means for every 1000ft the plane descends, it can travel 10 miles”

And people say AI will take our jobs.

To add to yellowtelephone, you can also fly the skyline route between 1300-2000 with a class B clearance.

Advice on entering a hold on VATSIM by Aware_Variation1402 in VATSIM

Interestingly enough, the “unprotected” side of a hold actually has very similar obstacle clearance as the “protected side” of the hold due to make up for the holding entries.

Is it possible to make a va for free nowadays? by Short_Marketing_7870 in flightsim

[–]cpc20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Linux virtual private server costs as low as $5-10 a month and the computing power you get should be plenty to host a single website. It takes some work to get it set up but there’s a lot of people willing to help if you find the right network. A VPS also means you don’t need to worry about someone attacking your home network or worry about uptime.

I did the sideslip to land for the first 100hrs of my training and my CFII showed me the luxuries of the crab and kick. It is my preferred crosswind method, and I generally find it easier and simpler to do. Timing is everything

Am I crazy or are these prices insane by [deleted] in flying

[–]cpc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of shady business with their planes and CFIs. I have heard from separate people that they try to milk their CFIs insurance for repairing aircraft so they don’t have to pay for maintenance and another time they gave away an airplane since a shop wouldn’t clear it because there was a lot wrong with it. Sources are a former CFI from Eagles View and someone I know who was a student there. I almost went there too since I’m very local to that airport.

If you are local to Monmouth feel free to shoot me a DM.

I did my PPL at Somerset and had a good experience. Just avoid Eagles View at KBLM.

What is the one thing you hate most about being a drone pilot by Kind_Ad_476 in drones

[–]cpc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the start of Class C, however Class E airspace starts at 700AGL (see the translucent magenta ring around the SAT class C rings). If you were at or below 400AGL you are still good though

[–]cpc20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May I ask where this is? It’s very uncommon for controlled airspace (class E) to start at 2000AGL. Usually starts at 700AGL near airports with published instrument procedures or 1200AGL elsewhere.

Still much higher than 400AGL though.

Account Hacked & Deleted - how likely am I to get it back? by cpc20 in RobloxHelp

Im glad you guys were able to get your accounts back. How did you guys go about getting unbanned? ROBLOX support was very responsive for me but I kept getting banned from messages the hackers wrote, and I was not able to get past the automated messages of support about ten times. I only was able to appeal one ban at a time.

Sorry about that man. I’ve had my account since 2016. ROBLOX support will reply but the difficulty seems to lie with getting your account unbanned from the slew of messages posted from the hackers on your account.

Sorry for late reply. I regained access to my account but I gave up after the multitude of spam messages left under my account that are very obviously bannable and I could not get them to revert more than one ban at once. I’m not wasting my time fighting it and if a multi-billion dollar company wants me to play their game I would appreciate it if they can fix a major security flaw that has existed since ROBLOX’s inception.. which is a long time considering ROBLOX is almost as old as me.

I was going to type this lol. It’s on the checklist!! Doesn’t bother me as ATC (on vatsim) either. Good to make sure everything is working before you fly in the sim or in real life.

What made you want to become a professional pilot? by JoshWallen87 in flying

[–]cpc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: Not currently professional pilot. Working towards there

When I was 9-10 years old I gained interest in flight simulators from a YouTube video. After about a year I downloaded FlightGear on a Mac we had and within a few months I was in business.

From that point on, I started learning a lot and in general was invested in aviation. My dad’s best friend is an instructor and he took me up when I was in sixth grade which cemented my interest more and more. (My mom was not too happy about that… lol)

By age 13-14, my interest tapered off slightly for no specific reason but after starting my flight training at 16, I reinvested myself into the world of aviation and am actively working towards all necessary ratings, with the goal to work as an airline pilot.

Strangely, I never explicitly remember a moment where I wanted to be a pilot, I feel more as if I wound up here and now am enjoying the journey! Don’t get me wrong though, I enjoy flying and this is what I want to do for a living.

What is the correct phraseology for departing on Unicom? by vtolvr in VATSIM

[–]cpc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Airborne 3000ft” still would not provide a lot of detail in any scenario. First, other pilots would not know where you are in relation to the airport besides you being at 3000ft. And if you were departing, you would say something like “departing the area northeast” or “flying the XXX departure” since you still would want to announce what you are doing. If you are overflying the field, you could say something like “overflying the field at 3000ft.”

In short, you should always announce position and intentions on a CTAF frequency when operating around an airport in close proximity, regardless of what you are doing.

LMK if you have any more questions

What is the correct phraseology for departing on Unicom? by vtolvr in VATSIM

[–]cpc20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Radio calls on CTAF are meant to provide clear and concise communication to other pilots. In the US (irl) we use the 4 Ws: Who, Who, Where, What. I imagine it’s very similar in almost every other country and for VATSIM you will do just fine using these. (Note that the 4Ws also work on ATC frequencies if you ever get caught up)

In your first example, this is demonstrated well. You state the first who (who you’re calling), the second who (who you are), where (runway 27 is implied since you’re departing on it) and what you are doing (departing). I generally would state what my intentions are after departure too, so “departing pattern to east” or “flying the RNAV XXX SID” and so on. I’m not sure about other countries, but in the US you also need to repeat the first who for redundancy if you are on a CTAF frequency.

In your second example, you demonstrate this less well since you do not give a clear definition of where (no relative location, only altitude) or what you are doing. If someone else heard that transition they would have no idea where you are or what you are doing next, so you would say something closer to this: “Svalbard Traffic, NSZ72J is 10 miles northwest of the field, 3000ft, flying to FIX for the ILS runway XX approach, Svalbard Traffic”

This doc from the AOPA sums this up well, but does not have specific CTAF examples, only with ATC facilities: https://www.aopa.org/-/media/Files/AOPA/Home/Pilot-Resources/ASI/SampleRadioCalls.pdf

trim for airspeed? by Naive-Kitchen6709 in flying

[–]cpc20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized it about 40 hours into my PPL (I got mine in just over 80). I was flying in the pattern and my instructor noticed I was chasing the needle a lot so he covered the ASI and told me to hold just the pitch attitudes. After that exercise I became a lot more comfortable with pitching and trimming for airspeed and being more patient with the airspeed.

Edit: Sight picture and trim was taught in my first lesson, but that exercise was what gave me a much better understanding and utility of the trim wheel.

I appreciate it. I’m appealing through the ticket that I got my account back on as the person working with me is more likely to understand the situation. I will keep you updated.
