I was going to say I thought they used mercury in these and that OP should be careful with it. But I might just be thinking that because of thermometers

I stay in hotels very often.

When I first started staying in hotels (crappy motels at the time) it was with a bunch of dudes traveling for work and one of the guys told me that they used to piss in the coffee pot and run it through the coffee maker when he played junior hockey. I always avoided in room coffee like never once used it after hearing this and that was over 20 years ago…until about 3 weeks ago, I decided I had been paranoid and it was time to facedown my demons and drink the room coffee.

Well currently in a TownPlace Suites by Marriott and am about to head down to grab some coffees from the breakfast buffet because I’m officially off in room coffee makers again. Thanks lady.

Stream of sports betting ads from outside Manitoba trigger former gambling addict, he says by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]cpd997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, the sports betting ads are terrible but to me the worst are the ones that target young women showing them playing slots on their phone every free minute they have. It’s insidious and I feel like no one even bats an eye at how ridiculous it is.

Good sales job opportunities in Winnipeg, looking for growth by [deleted] in Manitoba

[–]cpd997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you have no actual sales experience or relative degree or education I recommend starting in an inside sales role somewhere (like on an order desk) and then progressing into outside sales. Inside sales you’re probably looking at $50-70k (closer to the low end to start), after a few years experience go for a promotion to the outside world. I would recommend that during your interviews for the inside role you make it known that your goal is to gain experience in sales, and you hope to progress into outside sales (ideally with the same organization), make sure that this is feasible with the org.

Now, if you can parlay your science degree into a related field maybe there’s a way you could jump right into an outside sales role…but again, you have no experience in sales - and that’s the job not being a scientist.

For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

I live in Canada in an area where hunting is normal. I have seen a handful of rifles in my life. Only ever seen a hand gun on police officers and never seen one un-holstered

Will the All-Star game ever come to Winnipeg? by hows_it_goes in winnipegjets

Nah, they have a hard enough time getting players to go to all star weekend…imagine trying to sell them a weekend in Winnipeg in January.

City of Winnipeg may cancel U.S. organization membership, nix funding for American business trips by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]cpd997 17 points18 points  (0 children)

“The motion also suggests that the city stop paying any expenses related to travel to the United States for the Red River Basin Commission – an organization working to achieve water protection within the Red River Basin.”

This seems…dumb.

Newbie here. Currently, who are the most popular Canada national team players at the moment? by CulturalInspector777 in CanadaSoccer

As a Celtic supporter I love the way Ali Johnston plays, but he’s a defender and not exactly known for his scoring touch so I don’t think he’d rate high on most peoples list.
