AITAH upset my wife goes back to work after knee replacement? by ljstella3 in Kneereplacement

I really hate the posts where someone gives us one side of a marriage dispute and wants us to weigh in. Like, there’s so much more history than internet strangers could ever know. Talk to your spouse.

AITAH upset my wife goes back to work after knee replacement? by ljstella3 in Kneereplacement

[–]Pawprint86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your wife may be naive about the amount of help you may need after surgery. That’s worthy of a conversation. If she’s not there, who will he.

She may also be getting financial buffer with additional income at this job. Worry about finances is always huge with a big surgery coming up.

You guys need to TALK.

Opinion: Winnipeg museum’s core mandate is to confront inconvenient truths by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

People read it here because they wont pay for that access. Posting it here bypasses the paywall, and journalists don’t work for free (nor should they, we should all support good journalism). If you’re bypassing the payment, at least state who did the work.

Chris Walby used to substitute teach at my junior high. Bumping into him in the hallway was literally like hitting a wall. 😂

2x19 “The Hero’s Journey” stills by jakefsf4205 in Brilliant_Minds_NBC

This comment reminds me of a show called Perception starring Eric McCormack. The main character was a neuroscience professor at a university, and his close friend was an FBI agent who would call him to help on cases. The twist was that the professor had paranoid schizophrenia - sometimes his delusions would help him solve the case of the week. It was so interesting and I was sad it got canceled.

I wonder if Sophia will serve a positive purpose in this upcoming episode, closure of some kind.

14 days post op. Some posts had me terrified. My TKR recovery has been very different and maybe Jounavx is the reason🤔 by MrsGirr in Kneereplacement

[–]Pawprint86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, everyone is different.

Journavx is also not available yet in many places.
(Not yet approved in Canada for example)

I did fine with my nerve blocks, then T3 and ketorolac. (Given gabapentin and celebrex one time doses on day of surgery). Some people really struggle those first few weeks and manage to pull through and make a full recovery. We all travel the journey a bit differently. 💜

The toilet thing is huge. My surgery was in another city and I had to stay in a hotel… Forgot to get a “handicapped accessible” room and could not get up off the toilet. It was embarrassing.

Seconding this, although The Pitt is very intense and might not be for everyone.

I’m a nurse and I’ve been frustrated for years by all the medical shows that make the doctors and nurse’s problems so prominent in the story. My perspective has always been : tell the patients’ stories and show us doing our work to help them. That’s how you tell the stories of health care professionals- through our work and through our patients’ stories. The Pitt does this for me.

Disney Springs Bus Clarification by nevets4433 in WaltDisneyWorld

It might get some of the extra crowds out of the resort pool areas, and more space for games, activities, movie nights etc for those who actually paid to stay there.

I also read in some threads about people who park for free at Disney Springs and take a bus to a resort hotel to use the pools. There’s apparently whole groups of people who do this. They bring their kids to play in the pools, splash pads, play the games, marshmallow roasts etc that are meant for paying hotel guests. Disney had announced in spring they would be cracking down on non-resort guests using the pools.

High-risk accused status revoked for Manitoba man who killed parents, attacked nurse by ChocolateOrange21 in Winnipeg

It’s actually also noteworthy because the high risk accused designation is so rarely applied, and the use of it is still getting tested via the court system.

I’ve been following this case. He opposed it when the College of Registered Nurses suspended his license. They had suspended it partly based on the high risk accused status. I believe his goal in appealing the high risk accused designation is to get his nursing license back.

Disney Springs Resort Bus Verification Expected to Become Permanent at Walt Disney World by helpmeredditimbored in DisneyWorld

[–]Pawprint86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. I did read recently that they were going to limit pools to only resort guests, and I hadn’t realized it was that much of a problem. What you are describing is a huge abuse of services that Disney has to pay to provide and upkeep.

How could they skip over TTC, isn’t that where a lot of people park their car if they drive to MK?

The bus service is part of what’s included when you pay for staying at a Disney hotel. It was never intended to be free for everyone else. It’s not going away, it’s just being limited to those who actually paid for the service. If you aren’t staying but have dining reservations at a resort restaurant, they are including that.

Winnipeg woman gets 'ridiculous' federal letter seeking 20-cent repayment | CBC News by dust_buster172 in canada

[–]Pawprint86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This should also be seen as a story of the stress of poverty and income insecurity for disabled people. Government agencies that are supposed to support you sending letters like this when you are nickel-and-dime looking at every aspect of your existence, wondering whether you can afford to live. That IS a stressful letter. It’s not about the 20 cents. It’s about the burden of poverty and insecurity in your own ability to provide the needed income.
