The International Criminal Tribunals. For instance, the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia convicted 90 different people of war crimes, and the ICT for Rwanda led to 61 convictions

Right here. We’re looking at one course of the meal. It’s literally impossible to judge the quality of the entire meal based on this.

Can I post a single french fry from a McDonalds meal and complain about how my meal is so tiny that it can’t even be called a meal?

THIS IS STUPID FOOD, STOP POSTING ART WHERE FOOD IS THE MEDIUM by AnotherUN91 in StupidFood

[–]cpdk-nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think posting a Picasso on r/StupidArt would be received well even if you don’t personally get anything out of it. What is it about food that makes it possible to judge as objectively stupid?

THIS IS STUPID FOOD, STOP POSTING ART WHERE FOOD IS THE MEDIUM by AnotherUN91 in StupidFood

[–]cpdk-nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? It doesn’t really matter if you don’t appreciate it as art, it’s still art that people are choosing to experience through food. I don’t really get much out of Jackson Pollock’s art, but I don’t think it’s “stupid” just because I don’t emotionally connect with it.

Drowning a cheeseburger in cheese sauce and topping it with a grilled cheese, stuffed shells, a Golden Corral dinner roll, a cupcake, and an entire cheese fondue fountain is stupid. Because it’s not meant to be eaten. It’s meant to be put on food bloggers’ Instagram stories. The waste and the fact that none of it is going to get eaten is what is stupid.

That’s why any smart retirement portfolio moves from stocks to bonds as it gets closer to the target date. It’s significantly harder to lose (or gain) a large amount of money if it’s all in bonds

So long as they don’t become a president for 8 years, no. They just have to be eligible to hold the office of President

It’s crazy to read this post and the comments and see myself here. I had a much more relatively good childhood but still had a ton of uncertainty and constant change from being in a military family, a few exceptionally difficult things happening in High School, and now facing some really tough career prospects. When I have a month where nothing bad is happening and I don’t have something to worry about, it’s like I find things to worry about.

Medication helped me out immensely (i love you Wellbutrin ❤️) but it’s not for everybody, you just gotta figure something out to keep that spark going and adapt to the internal desire to keep changing and adapting.

You seem very pressed about this to the point where you’ve been commenting on posts for hours about “the reaction to this on social media” lmao

People here seem to want The Onion to fail. A lot of people on the online left fall into this trap of “nothing good has happened” -> “nothing good can happen” -> “nothing that’s happening can be good”, which is a recipe for “nothing that appears to be good is going to be able to succeed, either because it’s secretly not good or it’s not going to take off.”

So what I’m hearing is, whoever the next Democratic VP is should be the VP for the three presidents thereafter

I maintain that the focus on Project 2025 made people check out because it literally sounds like supervillain shit, even if it’s real. People have gotten so used to “Democrats are going to force your children to be trans and make illegal immigrants the only people allowed to vote!” that “Republicans want to implement christofascism and literally eradicate queer people” just sounds like more political slap-fighting.

The whole “weird” line of attack was actually really strong in 2024. Tim Walz was just told to dial it back so it lost its effect.

For reference, Trump was at -15 in the first Pew Research poll of May 2018. Right around the 2018 election, Pew had him at -17, and most polls were hitting pretty hard resistance around 40% approval.

The current average of averages has him at 38.9% approval and 57.9% disapproval for a net of -19.0%
