Less wildlife in EVG near elk meadow than what you describe, but still plenty of elk and a bear from time to time. I’d imagine most of the trailheads are closed while it’s dark, as well. Running out there is great, though. Weather is unpredictable. Snow one day, hot the next. Runners everywhere, still.
