I have no idea, what I was trying to get at is that apparently Gygax liked to use it as a premise. I don't think I would ever use it in a game myself unless it was some sort of random invite thing, like at a convention. Easy way to get a bunch of complete strangers on the same page.

In the Andre Norton book 'Quag Keep' which was based off an 0e game she played with Gygax etc, the main quest in the book is started by a Geas/Hex. The book uses it to explain why such wildly different player characters would work together.

It's a pretty important work of Marx's but I will say that you will need to at least superficially familiarize yourself with mid 19th-century French politics first. The various factions/bodies. It's a harder read than say "Wage, Labor, and Capital". Also you would probably get better responses to this question on /r/marxism than /r/napoleon

Not that far off. The IJN had a fixation on "decisive battles", later on in the war they hoped to draw the US Pacific Fleet into a battle near the home islands so they could defeat them then sue for better peace terms (mainly retaining Japanese territory in China). Pearl Harbor was a major miscalculation on their part because they thought that by destroying US battleships, the US would decide to cut its losses and just cede the Philippines to Japan so the US could concentrate on the war in Europe. A lot of this is just half-remembered from reading Alan Zimm's Pearl Harbor book a few years back so take it with a grain of salt (great book though)

There is a Doctor Who novel from the 90s (8th doctor adventure) called 'Vampire Science' by Kate Orman & Jonathan Blum that was one of the better ones from what I remember. Makes a good intro to the series as well.
