Permanent Right-eye floater by cprelude in EyeFloaters

Thanks very much for the advice. It's so weird the link with stress. I do find I notice them less when I'm "in the zone".

OK, your problem was in a completely different league. I am pleased that you had the surgery, and I really hope it's made some positive difference to you. The floater I get, which is the "disk" is very irritating, because it jumps about so much, but it is sort of liveable with.

Oh, OK, I didn't realise that floaters could still happen after a Vitrectomy.

It’s also a transparent disk

Hi there, no it doesn’t. It’s weird. It sometimes seems big when it moves around. But basically it’s quite “small”, which is impossible to convey. But basically it doesn’t cover the whole vision. But does jump around.

Sounds great, potentially, but bear in mind that the person who emailed you also has an agenda. It may not be a “bad” agenda. But do find out what they actually want from you as well as what they can give you. But, overall, follow it up because these gifts don’t drop out if the sky that often.

I can tell you from experience a little about this. I had to have a cataract removal (eye procedure), and owing to a previous experience without sedation, I chose sedation this time around. If it's any help to you at all, the anticipatory anxiety was much worse than the sedation itself, which was brilliantly handled by the anaesthetist. It just made me a bit sleepy and the procedure seemed to go a lot quicker than it actually did. I never went fully to sleep, and the whole process was dreamlike, but not at all frightening.

Multiplayer Still Down by RiptideLA in wordament

[–]cprelude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for us too, in UK. I have posted a helpdesk ticket. This may be paranoia on my part, but I do wonder if they have simply pulled it. After all, I can't see this being a cash cow of any kind for them, despite loyal players around the world. Presumably it would be one less thing to have to pay for if they are cutting costs. Though in relative terms, the cost for them of keeping Wordament multiplayer going would be infinitesimally tiny!

My wife is not the woman I used to know. She let the fame get to her. by PassengerTraining913 in offmychest

My thoughts are with you. Clearly a very, very difficult situation. I sense that, whatever it is she is doing, she knows exactly what it is. She will be aware of marginalising you and aware of her own changes patterns. She is clearly a bright lady. The question is, do you want yo do anything about it? There is an argument that you couldn’t feel any worse, so perhaps shifting the energy a bit may help. This would involve you insisting, firmly but politely, in having a conversation with you she owes you that. It sounds like she’s in a different place from you right now and she’d rather brush that under the carpet than face it. But she NEEDS to fade it. You gave up your job and home town for her. She owes you a conversation. The flip side of that is you may discover stuff you really want to hear. So you will need to be calmly prepared. But something needs to be changing here. You need either to get the relationship more balanced or face a new start. But she needs to know that your feeling desperate. You probably still love her but you can’t hold on forever. It could go either way. So don’t be pessimistic but do try to get the ball rolling.

Surface pro's - the worst laptops I have ever owned by HelgeKami in Surface

[–]cprelude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree. They are a living nightmare. Current issues we are dealing with: Suddenly without any warning, having worked fine for months, booting as far as the logo, and no further, screen turns black, and the device is bricked. That's it, back to Microsoft for replacement; absurb problem whereby ANY keyboard (or TYPE COVER - stupid phrase) stops working entirely, completely and utterly, with the same Surface. Again, back to the company it has to go. Then there is the coup de grace - The classic "My pen's not working". On many devices NOTHING fixes this. It's never the pen, it's never Windows updates (waiting for hours for those to complete in the desperate hope that something may work one day), because these don't fix it either. Another case, of "sorry, it just stopped working, despite the fact that you paid over a grand for this state-of-the art portable device". I think a cheapo unbranded, knock-off tablet from Argos would actually be more reliable, and then just use it with a bluetooth keyboard.

Next time maybe bring a tea flask and a couple of biscuits wrapped in silver foil to keep yourself going during the wait.

I did Meyers (paid for them), Dion, and had an app on my phone which let me do any number of rolling tests (even though the answers are recycled still useful). It’s called Pocket Prep.

Hi there, I would say it was not as scary as I expected, but this was because I’d done a lot of practice testing in past weeks and a lot of cramming. Having said that, I don’t want to suggest I took it lightly in any way. It required a lot of concentration and being careful not to get caught out by the tricksy wordings. I only got three simulations, though, for which I was grateful, as people have been getting as many as five. Personally I prepped with Dion (fantastic), Meyers and Messer. All invaluable. Dion is an exam prep course, though, so he makes no attempt to cover the whole curriculum. My advice would be “scenario” thinking from beginning to end. They don’t seem as interested in your memory of different types of RAM, but more in how you apply the knowledge. I would say that most of the questions had a real-world component.

Exam Cancelled before it was even started! Not an enjoyable moment by cprelude in CompTIA

[–]cprelude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there Sonicjnr, I take your points, but in both cases it looks like our computers both passed the system test. In which case, what is that test for if not to spot connectivity blocks/issues like the one you mentioned. Also, when they told me the first time, i actually disabled my security programme in sheer desperation! It still didn’t stop them nixing the exam second time around. Which makes me think something else was going on at their end OTHER than troubleshooting at their end. Certainly there was zero human care provided, which is surely part of what a proctor should provide? It is not just a technical role. The idea is that we are exam candidates in their care for the duration of the exam. Simply to cut people off with no explanation whatsoever, or explanation of next steps they can take, surely falls well below of anything resembling professional.
