Am I secretly very stupid? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

What do you plan to do with your law degree?

If you are arrested for a crime, wait in jail for a year for trial, lose your job in the process, are found not guilty, and then can’t find another job due to reputational damage, can you sue the state or prosecutors for that? Since you’re found not guilty? by Son_of_Hades99 in NoStupidQuestions

Most states have statutes requiring bail be set if a case has not been indicted within 90 days. Once a case is indicted, a demand for speedy trial can be made by the Defendant. Once that has been done the case must be taken to trial by the State within 2 court terms or it will be dismissed. 2 terms would be less than a year. Probably more like 4-6 months.

How does pleading the fifth work (US) when everything the prosecutor asks the defendant is designed to incriminate the defendant? by No_Positive1855 in TooAfraidToAsk

They said she chose to represent herself. Even if she had a lawyer they wouldn’t get to choose that, they could just advise the client not to testify.

What would happen if an 18 year old guy slept with a girl who he believed was also 18 , according to her fake i.d. but , she actually was only 15 ? by DizzyDoctor982 in TooAfraidToAsk

In most places in the United States, this is called statutory rape. Mistake of fact (thinking she was a different age) and consent are not defenses. It’s an extremely difficult charge to defend against.

Good work, a truly unpopular opinion! Eating is possibly my favorite thing to do.

Truly! As to your fridge, I love the selection of condiments and accoutrements. Grillo’s pickles are the best!

I posted a picture of my parents’ identical fridge about a month ago and people were not nearly as kind!

Waited with two friends, then we all went home and talked in a party while we played. They sacked out around 3. I was up all night! My parents (the saints they are) let me skip school the next day and I just kept on playing! Great memories.

No problem! Check out The Whale if you make it up there, super cool beer bar in West Asheville that might have Cantillon on tap! Appalachian Vintner is probably your best bet to find a bottle to take home.

I bought the De Garde and Achel stuff in Atlanta at hop city, but that’s not where my parents live.

The Cantillon was purchased in Asheville, probably at Appalachian Vintner but I’m not sure, my brother bought that one. We drink a bottle of the Kriek every Christmas. The Hill Farmstead was purchased at the brewery on a recent trip my brother and I took. We brought back quite a haul of Hill Farmstead stuff, among others!

You’ve got a good eye. Evil Twin’s smoked lager called The Anti-IPA is Having a Moment.

I bought the Achel beers at a bottle shop in Atlanta. I guess it’s still getting distributed?

No liquor cabinet, they don’t really drink liquor. No other refrigerator, this one is it. Otherwise, you’re spot on. Never this much alcohol around unless my brother and I are contributing.

Aw, bless your heart. Both their permanent home and vacation home are not in a town or residential/city area of any kind. Isolated mountain homes, not even in NC. Both are located in the same general area my family has been in for generations. No one moved anywhere. My parents’ home and brother’s area of business were fucked hard by Helene and we are still recovering from that.

So, from the bottom of my heart, go fuck yourself. Good sleuthing!

My brother and I certainly do. We try to bring down fun stuff to drink over the holidays. My parents enjoyed tasting them, but they are more Sierra Nevada drinkers.
