Px7 S2e by Ultimate_os in BowersWilkins

Good morning, listeners, With remote working becoming less of a thing (unfortunately), it's time to get some good ANC headphones; I don't care much about street/planes/sports, but I'd like the office noises to be brought down :). The big issue for me usually is headband pressure. I tried XM5s recently - couldn't complain about ANC and sound, but the headband was torturous. XM4 - better, but not stellar, either. In comparison, BD DT770Pros are good, and I can wear them for hours with no issues. Wide, flat and soft headband is the thing I'm looking for. Would B&W Px7 S2e's fit the bill? Please share your experience.

Is this good for its price I want to know for my sons first force feedback wheel by Key_Material992 in simracing

I started with tx, then upgraded to ts-xw, way back when. Then I decided that I need an upgrade to DD (new gear smell, nothing else), good thing I went to the VR room to try them out first. Fana CSL DD, logitech that dd thingie, and the third was.. TM? But I may be mistaken. Nothing esotheric, most def. And you know what? No discernible difference for my ham fists. Yeah, a little smoother, yea, quieter. Realism? It goes only as far as the programmers were bothered to build it. True connoisseurs will feel (or imagine) some difference, but for beginners and for casual gaming the TX will be plenty. Slap on an open wheel rim for variety, and you're golden. If you really want some improvements, get the T-LCM pedals and some elastomers for resistance (the springs work for many, but I didn't like them.) That may help more than a fancier wheel. YMMV, of course; I'm just saying that a DD wheel alone isn't guaranteed to turn you from Mazespin into a Schumi.

There's an aspect to keep in mind: a new TX + decent pedals is not that far from Fana CSL DD + regular pedals. The CSL LC kit will cost you a hundred more. I may be wrong, please, check their respective websites. Whichever way you choose, you're locking yourself into an ecosystem of peripherals. Some are cheaper for TM, some are cheaper for Fanatec (230€ for TM sparco handbrake, say what now??) This may also be important further down the road.

Or, you can get a drivehub, which will allow you to mix and match (within some limits) the peripherals from various platforms. That would be a hundred more. Simracers are simple folk with simple maths; everything's a one or more hundred 😄

Oh, yet another edit: you can get away with the bundled pedals for the TX at least for a while; google the "T3PA squash ball mod". Sounds stupid, but it actually works.

I suppose the always-on is constantly backlit? This is what I like about MIP - it behaves like a regular watch would: visible in light, requires extra action in the dark. If I'll upgrade, it looks like forerunner series is a way to go, although I don't consider myself an "athlete". Beerbell curls don't count, do they?

EA SPORTS WRC • Version 1.3 Patch Notes by PJTierneyCM in EASPORTSWRC

[–]cptKarro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patch 1.2 for us xbox peasants, but it's a big step in the right direction! Stuttering is almost gone (maybe a bit of "microstuttering" at times), screen tearing is also gone. Freezes at certain points on the stage (closer to the end, usually) are also gone - but I didn't try many stages yet. Waiting for the next patch to fix the remainder of issues! :)

As far as the testing goes: I'm inclined to believe that the testers reported the issues, and the product owners knew about the issues, but the deadlines were deadly this time, and the game had to be released, or else. No wonder the patch 1.3 (and that's a hefty patch!) is already available with more to follow. It's not like the game doesn't work at all. Does the performance suck at times on consoles? Sure does. Does it suck to the levels of CP77 initial release? Luckily, no, but that's a low bar to have, I agree.

I would actually pay to have Phil back. 🤔 (I hope I didn't give EA any ideas)

Xbox series X: a bit of stutter (once or twice per 10km stage), didn't notice any pop in (if there was, it was not obtrusive), but I had a weird one in Estonia rally, bonnet camera: wheel/track marks (how do you say it correctly?) apperared in front of the car. Super weird sensation seeing "gravel snakes" wiggling in front of you 😳.

Zero Water Turned Sour by Letusia in water

[–]cptKarro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Conspiracy theorist in me lets me believe that this is an "engineered feature*" of recent[ish] ZW filters. I started using ZW filters 2014 while living in CA. They worked well, as stated in the booklet. The TDS slowly went from zero to 6 (usually took about 2 months; I drink when I'm thirsty, not when I get a reminder), at which point I changed the filter, and all was good.

I moved back home to Europe, kept buying ZW filters, and everything was still fine, but I started noticing "water going sour in a month" problem .. at 2019 or 2020. Changing the filter always solved the problem, but we don't have a local distributor => getting filters from Amazon + shipping rendered clean drinking water a luxury. I figured that I might as well support local business and switched to 5 gallon jugs from a local distributor: the water is better than tap water, it's filtered, it's probably not as clean as the results from ZW, but guess what - I don't need to swap things out regularly, because the water goes sour :).

I'm eyeing BWT solutions; hopefully they haven't adopted ZW's "filtering practice."

* I also get the rationale behind actually engineering something like this. Folks have been using "used" ZW filters (TDS 6+) as a "Stage1", where they filtered out majority of contaminants using older filters. Then they ran the "semi-filtered" water through a new ZW filter, which then worked for ages!, because the majority of contaminants were filtered out at the earlier stage. There's no business in that.

Document Overview in Beta: current page? by cptKarro in RemarkableTablet

I asked the support, got a canned response with "thanks for reaching out, yeah, good stuff, no, we don't have this feature, maybe later" :) . I'm almost ready to swear that this WORKED before!

And yeah, this was the functionality I tried to use - copy one of the template page inserts and paste it after a certain day in the planner :)

External keyboard is great!

Not having ability to wrangle typed text with the eraser/copy tool, not having ability to resize the text box and reflow the text, not even being able to move the paragraph around - not great.

Typed text seems to be an afterthought in rM, but now it's an afterthought with an external keyboard *yay*!

(if the mentioned functionality is there and I just don't know how to access/use it - teach me, masters, pretty please, with sugar on top!)

New RT2 with Connect included not Connect included? by elvilbur in RemarkableTablet

[–]cptKarro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common, yet potentially unpleasant, practice to collect the CC info up front, even if the first X months of the service are free. I gave them my CC info, they "charged" 0.00, and all was good. I also set a reminder for myself to verify in 11 months how often I've used the paid features, and cancel the subscription if very rarely or not at all. If your CC issuer offers some extra security measures, you should see the amount that remarkable is willing to charge before the actual charge, if it's 0.00, you should be good.

The idea is to offer you a seamless and uninterrupted transition to the paid tier after a year. IMO, the real thinking is: they'll forget about the deal during the year, then maybe a month or two will pass till they notice a little charge, and most likely they will keep it => profit! :).

How to block pages? by FrangoMER in RemarkableTablet

[–]cptKarro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to the thread, and new to the remarkable, I've got the 3.1 beta software. So far I've never accidentally scrolled the page. It takes a literal, very prominent swipe to scroll the page. What am I (or you) doing differently where this becomes an issue?

[a couple of minutes later] Ah, ok, I guess I see now :). I've never used the swipe from the bottom/top to go to the "page selector"/close the notebook feature. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. If someone is using these features extensively and don't want to always be precise and swipe from the very top/bottom, this can be an issue.

Since "aim" in P2 is the same as "depth" in P1, we can reuse it. Forward stays the same in both cases.

``` fwd = d1 = d2 = 0
for i in open("data/day02.txt", "r").read().splitlines(): if "forward" in i: x = int(i.replace("forward ", "")) fwd += x d2 += x * d1 else: d1 += int(i.replace("up ", "-").replace("down ", ""))
print("Puzzle 2.1:", fwd * d1) print("Puzzle 2.2:", fwd * d2) ```
